Internet radio is great. Chi Chi will you post your favorite stations?

I did a bit of research about creating a station. It seems the easiest method is to use the SHOUTcast plugin for Winamp which allows you to add files to your playlist and click play to broadcast. You can also broadcast from a mic or mixer plugged into your sound card.

You will need a server to host your stream. You can host your own server with additional SHOUTcast software or hire a host, it seems the most popular host is Live365.

Hosting your own server seems impractical as it requires 2.4 Mbps (two T1 lines) for 100 listeners at 24Kbps quality. Eek!

The pricing plans offered by various hosts depend on the amount of listener slots and quality of broadcast.
