I still haven't seen it yet, I've been so busy lately. But Nowhereboy I can tell you as someone who DID live in NYC during the Alig years, there was soooooo much more going on around town that had nothing to do with the club kid movement whatsoever, and the general public will not be seeing that portrayed in Party Monster (and, on artistic grounds, I can certainly understand why the producers chose to focus on one specific scene). Those other scenes however are what I tend to remember more.

I went to a lot or Alig's parties at the Tunnel. They were major, I really loved the invites in those days, boxes of candy, plastic tools, etc. I remember he put one of those huge inflatable carnival things that little kids would jump in on the subway tracks. I loved his outlaw parties even more, they were so anarchist in the best anti-social/social engineering kind of way. MORE! MORE! MORE! The clips are incredible. If they are anything to go by I, as one who came too late to take a bite out of Jackie 60, am so excited. I remember after one of my performances at Magique Chi Chi said I had the Jackie flavour. Watching the clips now I realize the magnitude of the compliment. This movie is going to be so valuable to many walks. Now with the wonder of DV I think nightlife can be captured in a way never possible before. I listened to the clips with my headphones...

The influence of Jackie has tarnished me for life... I couldn't even watch B'way's Fiddler on the Roof without thinking of the Jackie 60 version "Fiddler in da Hood" oeey! I think defo part of your movie should pay homage to the amazimg flyers... sometimes the flyers were even better than the night itself!

The Hasidic show was one of the strangest, image-wise. It is truly wonderful that the movie will document the Jackie energy. I only wish the filming would have taken place over more than the one year period because as whack as that 1999 was so much of the initial years' energy really was busting with total liberation zone antics. Even the stills that are posted from the last year though have that amazing Berlin Dada meets the collective Id vibe that even by 1999 still showed something way...

Sorry I was a little rough on you Jenny but we work very hard on this night. And by most accounts it was one of, if not THE best NOTS ever. It's hard to hear complaints like, "there was no sound to the video" and "the show didn't start till 10:15". I know clubbing is not your thing and to be fair the Jackie 60 experience is pretty advanced even for jaded New Yorkers. So I'll lighten up if you'll just keep an open mind. Now really, I think they are only going about a third of the way with this concept of reviving a classic 60's comedy. They should do it as one of those 'road episodes' where the regular weekly cast goes to, like, Miami Beach, or Disneyland. Except this movie should be done like a freakin convention. I just got back last night from Portland. Before I left I went over to David Weissman's house to meet him. (I completely forgot that we had this thread going and yes, I know I'm a bimbo). Hi Ann's brother..I don't think I knew Ann but I was a photogrpher in the 70's and 80's and I've just come across the pyramid files..Bobby bradley is there along with so many others. I loved that dog. I'll never forget Monday nights setting up for Jackie 60 when all of a sudden the door would open and this tornado of love would jump on top of me and visciously attack me with frantic kisses. She was an angel. I'm so glad she got to spend her retirement at her country estate in Maine. She loved it there. RIP VIP

Yes, it is real, I remember one night at the Versailles room (it was the Brown party, I think) I was sitting there with Lulu (as Lulu, by the way) and carrying on a conversation with Jonah when he asked me to "hold" it, I mean... him. All this carrying on in front of a million people!! But I'm not that kind of a boy, really...I still remember the "sensation", sort of the same feeling as being in the same room as Amanda Lear. Needless to say, I have been a big fan of Jonah since then.

Though I agreed with very little that she said, I am so glad that she existed - to speak the unpopular, to live so far outside of any even unconventional ideals or standards of beauty that she quite literally created her own.
