Well, let's start Part IV with this.
Maripol sent me this interview about the early days.
It's pretty good and very informative if you are a Madonna freak.

Maripol is a stylist and is credited with creating Madonna's early looks. She and her then husband Edo did her first record cover.

She and Edo also did my first record cover.
She styled me and put my boys in those white dinner jackets.
(Chi Chi created herself of course).

Interview with Maripol.
Damn! The bitch is 49!
Here is her birthday party .

I have to admit, she looks good.
There is nothing like a good face lift.
She didn't over do it.

This "home video" is very telling.
The husband (whom I've never met) looks like a complete asshole.
And the other thing that strikes me is how everybody LOVES her.
If you took away her money, fame and power...
How many of those people do you think would actually like her and be there for her?

none.
Former Danceteria DJ Johnny Dynell remembers going to the supermarket one day and seeing her on the cover of Life magazine. " Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. It almost knocked me out," he says. "Oh my God, I thought, the bitch did it. It's not the Village Voice, it's the cover of Life. For a long time I thought of her as the same as us, but then I realised: 'Oh my God, she's a millionaire. she's rich she's done it'."

Don't worry Daddy, you still have a chance to 'do it'.

You just have to pass out a LOT more sex.
Oh...
I thought that quote sounded familiar.
I guess I should have read that article.
It was just so long.

I just read it.
Boy are there a lot of mistakes!
I guess it doesn't matter.
Who cares.

And BTW...
No it wasn't The Empress.

Chi Chi was too busy doing burlesque type shows where she rolled around in white wedding tule.

Madonna would never steal an idea from her.

Commence with the media tidal wave....

Hard Candy: Official Press Release
'HARD CANDY' DELICIOUS NEW MADONNA ALBUM SCHEDULED TO BE RELEASED ON WARNER BROS.RECORDS APRIL 29th
Madonna's 11th studio album for Warner Bros. Records 'HARD CANDY' is scheduled to have a global release on April 28th and a US release on April 29th, it was confirmed by her label.
'HARD CANDY' (the follow up to Madonna's 'CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR' which debuted at No. 1 in 30 countries and sold over 8 million copies), has been described as a brilliant up-tempo collection of 12 songs in which Madonna remains ensconced in club mode but this time adds an urban hip hop beat in collaboration with musical partners Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes and Nate 'Danja' Hills. The debut single, the pulsating '4 Minutes' will be released at the end of March.
'The title is a juxtaposition of tough and sweetness - kind of like I'm gonna kick your ass but it's going to make you feel good. And of course, I love candy' laughed the material girl.
Madonna, a multi-Grammy-award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, cultural icon, world renowned stage performer, video visionary, children's book author, director and documentary film maker has sold 200 million albums in the course of her unprecedented two decade plus career and is slated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10th.
Ok last thing I'm posting in this topic (I feel dirty being here). Read this on Perez and spit coffee...

"...I really have a panic attack that everyone else is breathing my air. Obviously there's enough oxygen for me but it never happens outdoors, it's normally in indoor sports arenas that feel very close when suddenly I feel claustrophobic. It's not a fear of performing."
-Belzy

1. I don't even want them breathing my air.

and

2. It only happens in claustrophobic situations like inside indoor sports arenas, it's not a fear of performing. Uh I would say that's a fear of performing since you're not really gonna be reading a book or say gardening or driving in an indoor sports arena. You're going to be performing. God, her line of BS is neverending.

hey lex
i'm right there with you.
i'm reading ciccone's book @ borders during my lunch breaks @ work.
do you remember the old days, when we would pass cafe tabac and imagine a leather-chokered, gold-toothed madonna upstairs w/ingrid, liz smith and a bewildered miss peggy lee, plotting bimbo eruptions/world domination?
these days, i relate to madonna almost completely thru nostalgia.
the best song on her new cd is "she's not me", with pharrell.
child, take me back to 1993!
it's "thief of hearts" part 2
ps
madonna can't be "copying" peaches.
that's mathematically impossible.
in those shots, peaches is featuring madonna's dolce & gabbana "girlie show" look, plus a gloss on madonna's blonde ambition gaultier onesie - plus below, peaches is rocking the sandra bernhart mullet!
it's all been done before.
additionally madonna often has worked the
"no upper-lip" look in photos.
that's the tuff "nancy sinatra/patti smith/tina chow" look - predating peaches by 35 years.
No, we can NEVER let her live this down!
We have to torture her 'till the end of time.

And speaking of the Grace video...
Connie Girl and I were on it fiercely last night at GARY.
It turns out we are both obsessed with the part where her one eye pops out.
We watch it over and over and over and over.

Don't get me wrong...
I love Michele Obama. I think she's great but can you imagine Grace Jones as first lady?
Addressing the DAR (Daughters of The American Revolution) and the NAACP.
