Minneapolis Low Life - Gay Pride June 28-29

Johnny and I are off to Minneapolis for the first time ever, to do a two-night club in an alley off Loring Park. If you live in the Twin Cities or have any tips while we are there, much appreciated.

And if you are in town, be sure to come check LOW LIFE out!

Here's the skinny:

SATURDAY JUNE 28 + SUNDAY JUNE 29
THE JACKIE FACTORY PRESENTS
LOW LIFE MINNEAPOLIS
LORING ALLEY
NICK AND EDDIE
1612 HARMON PLACE, MN
FROM 7 PM EACH NIGHT
jackiefactory.net

THE JACKIE FACTORY will present two days of "LOW LIFE" in LORING ALLEY during MINNEAPOLIS GAY PRIDE, joining a host of esteemed guests in town for this gay-la weekend. The alley adjacent to foodie-hipster hangout NICK AND EDDIE will host DJ JOHNNY DYNELL, MC CHI CHI VALENTI, CHI CHI LARUE, CIRQUE ROUGE, ALL THE PRETTY HORSES, tranny metal-punk band FAGGOTT, and a cast of neo-Edwardian Trannies, burlesquers, rubberists, and other local talent during evening hours.

This on-site work continues the Factory's LOW LIFE series, inspired by the Art of the Dive and brilliant LUC SANTE book of the same name. LOW LIFE has been presented at the HOWL FESTIVAL and London's RETURN TO NY as well as NYC venues including THE CONEY ISLAND SIDESHOW MUSEUM and JACKIE 60.

i was in minneapolis last november
with my friend john faricy.
he took me to dinner at nick & eddie.
fabulous food! gorgeous room!
and loring alley is a PERFECT jackie factory location.

just saw john again yesterday.
he's hurrying back to the twin cities
to be there for this event!
looks like it will be a fun one.
Well, who knew that Minneapolis would be brimming with talent and a rich repository of Motherly tribes? Certainly not Johnny and I, and what a pleasant surprise.

It was a weekend filled with reunions (great to see ALL THE PRETTY HORSES and D.D. SPARKS again)
and discoveries including burlesquers LE CIRQUE ROUGE and FOXY TANN. Most extraordinary among these was FAGGOT, the raging, rocking, metal-punk band with perhaps the best costume designer since KITTY BOOTS.

It was really a great two nights on the alley, and Ill just share a few pics here, and then send you off to our JACKIE FACTORY FLICKR set for the lion's share..

Here is LE CIRQUE ROUGE

I think they just thought up the title to your next CD Daddy.

Or they asked Bonnie 'how does he like it?'

One of the best things about going to a place like Minneapolis is experiencing the local culture and seeing the incredible hunger for more that inspires people there.
had to sit on this one for a little while...
but.... oh my asterick!!!

"the lovely chi chi valenti and johnny dynell in the alley" ????!?!?!?!
spray painted on the side of a trailer??!!!??!

what else needs to be said?
as mommy would say, "GEEE-nius!"
