Wow, you're right Gypsy Wild...
that is exactly the feel I was going for with the invite.
Who knew?
(I guess you knew).

And Jazmen,
Those pics are hot and I really love the youtube video.
It's not the best quality, true but it gets the feeling across.
I remember when you started to twirl the crowd went insane!

I say this every year but I can't figure out why people don't twirl more.
(I guess it's harder than it looks)
Every time someone twirls, the crowd goes absolutely nuts.
I'd like to take a minute to really pay homage to the men behind the man.

As "Art Director" (I guess that's what I am now) of NOTS (I do the invites, the stage, the decor etc.) and I get a lot of praise.
The truth is, I couldn't do my part of it without Lori E. Seid.
Lori is a seasoned pro lighting director and all around tech wizard. For the past few years Lori has made the "Rosie O'Donnell train" run on time. She has done everything from Rosie's TV shows to Taboo on Broadway.
She's a tech genius.
When I showed her my drawing for the stage set she immediately wrote out all the tech necessary to make it happen.
Pipes, trusses, cheezeboros, clamps...
By the time I turned around to ask her what the hell a cheezeboro was she was 30 feet up on a ladder checking the gels in a light.
Someone that night was commenting to me about the lighting at NOTS, "It's always so professional they said, It's like they rehearsed it".
Well you know what...
they did!
Lori is a highly paid professional who does NOTS (almost) every year for us out of love.
She makes all of us look good, especially me.

The other man behind the man is Dany Johnson. aka "Pops Steiner" on The Motherboards. (Don't ask)
As most of you know, I'm a DJ by profession so I also get a lot of credit for the music and the shows.
But the truth is Chi Chi and Hattie won't let me anywhere near the music at NOTS.

This year, for instance, I pushed for a few "Stevie-esque" songs to be included. Songs not by Stevie exactly but in the same vein.
NO! I was told by the Empress is no uncertain terms.
ALL STEVIE ALL NIGHT!
To punish me for my insurrection she made me remix "Nightbird" and "Enchanted".
I will, of course, make them available for all of you freaks to download.

It's Joel, Poison Eve, Sammy Jo and Craig Spencer who are the Stevie DJs. (I'd get tambourines thrown at me if I played!)

And as far as the show...
Dany does all that.
She is there in the afternoon running through everything with Hattie and Lori and the performers.
Dany Johnson makes the show music work.

But every year I get credit for it all.
Life is good.

Seriously, I'm coming clean.
Hat's off to the men behind the man.

A View From the Dove...

I was struck by the wide range of talents at this year's Night of a Thousand Stevies and, as always... I was truly honored to be counted among them! I didn't week the full show, but the following performances were my absolute favorites:

Gypsy Wild - Her "Sisters of the Moon" was true Stevie and she worked it to the fullest, for sure! Brava!

The Poetess - What can I say? Our "little baby egg" was truly shining on that stage!

Jazmen Flowers, Basil Twist and Little Stevie, Bella Donna, The Divine Grace, Charlene Coran, Amber Ray, The HoHos, Jonny Tingle, the Pixie Harlots and the go-go girls were all great!!!

I am able to tell my friends and family there were neckid girls in the dressing room!!!

I took approx. 40 photos of various performers and I must say... Each year I learn atleast one thing new from all those performers who, unlike myself... do this kinda thing for a living or on a regular basis. At NOTS13 I learned that Stevie Nicks and I have one thing in common for sure... Her feelings are hurt whenever she feels that people pay more attention to her weight than her singing. I learned at NOTS13 that, whenever I wear a blonde wig (which looks awful on me) that people are more critical of how I look than of my singing. That hurts too, but I don't like wearing wigs anyway...

At NOTS18, thanks to Jazmen Flowers, I learned something very important: TAKE MORE PHOTOS OF MYSELF! (PLEASE NOTE: I say this with much love because Jazmen is always very sweet to me and is also very talented!)

I must resize all the photos I took and will surely post a link to them here. I took photos of people I thought were interesting and wild and I do not know some of their names. When the time comes, I hope some of you will help me to identify these people!

Love and Stevie-ness!

Your Dove of doves...

I love this lady and this photo reminds me sooooo much of when my Brother, Robert and I were little boys... This is exactly the way our Mommy would look every Christmas morning... and she would say,

"Wake up boys, come see what Santa brought you!"

Little Robert always wanted cars and trucks or guns to play "Army Man"!

Little Ricky (ME) always wanted a chemistry set or a bow and arrows so he could play Amazons and do battle with the Army Man!
