I've been getting alot of inquiries about our Christmas show this year, and thought I would share the plans here for others who might be curious.
After spending the last six Christmases in a row deep in a run, I have decided to just do a big one-night Very Jackie Christmas this year in a more theatrical venue. I adore doing the kind of intricate structured theatricals that this show has evolved into, and love spending so much of this crazy season with my backstage family.
But the lesson of recent times is you can not do all of the old work AND the new work too, and we are immersed in new projects that are demanding LOTS of time and energy - not the least of them these boards.
So I thought the one-night idea was a great compromise, and as a director may give me a new perspective on the show, and therefore new enthusiasm. I am starting to look for venues this week and will be contacting our stable with the date for this very special one-off very soon, as I know you need to make plans.
Any performers from previous years who know what nights are good or bad for them are welcome to email, as some kind of consensus may be helpful. But the date may well depend on which venue we fall in love with, and its availability.
And now, back to pre-Halloween...
