loved jackie curtis, kept the black and white picture of her from the newspapers of her laying there in the bed with the roses in the hospital for years after her seeming demise. yes it was a news worthy event.
it was all such a time of 'decadent swank' in those days. decay all over the city, in our parks, most public schools, and any important buildings around town looked like ruins of a great long lost empire. there was a flavor in the city in those days -- of a once upon time glory not bombed out from war, rather a place that had seen better days and was on the verge of falling down never to recover. the ruin of it all, gave us a patina of a lost pleasure palace and made the city a personal fiefdom of the night trippers of that time. so glad to have witnessed a small part of it all.
