Reply to "Puritan Watch"

Well, not to be too contrary my dear Anna but there were plenty of libertines that came over here to start off this country. And the country has at least as long a social history of harboring major non and a-religiously hedonistic traditions. The city of Indianapolis for instance started as nothing so much as an in-plain-sight hideout for every kind of cutthroat, thief, outcast, prostitute, pre-20th century slacker, apostate priest, flim-flam artist, snakeoil salesman, Madame, juvenile delinquint and all round free-thinker from the Ohio Valley to Chicago. So I still say it is not a Puritan or religiously conservative country as much as the current Idiocracy wants to front that. It is simply that those types are throwing their weight around now and making a lot of noise. The statistic on the so-called 'moral issues' voters is that they comprise just barely 22 percent of the electorate. All the really happy people are the majority who are busy satisfying their libidos, they aren't clamoring to change laws and clamp down on other people's pleasures. It is the Sour Minority making noxious pests of themselves doing that.
