Someone very close to me (my "Clark Kent") works for a big pharma. All the big pharmas have "government relations" departments set up solely to harrass and browbeat politicians into pushing legislation favorable to the pill-popping industry. Corporate payola basically, very stick-and-carrot with campaign contributions and putting a stop to little old ladies crossing the Canadian border to get cheaper meds. I could never do such a job and neither does my Clark but some of his colleagues are doing it right now as I type -- trust me! Still, I agree about the morning-after pill. I'm surprised it passed as well but it's definately for the best and a step in the right direction.
