I am quite stunned by the sudden passing of my Blacklips confrere, Todd, AKA Lulu. She was a true original-- drop-dead gorgeous in drag, with an impeccable comedic timing which she really honed during her Blacklips tenure-- not to mention her wig-styling & makeup skills... Really one of the best-- if not THE best. I can still recall, with a smile, her portrayal of the dissipated and jovial Queen Louise XI in both "The Red Shoes" and "Hunch" (Blacklips version of The Hunchback Of Notra...

So last night, I went to have my hair done for Wigstock. It turned out that my friend Creighton who does my hair was having a film documentary done about doing the wigs for this final festival (he also does Bunny's, Linda's, etc). So unlike our ususal hair sessions, this one was fueled by champagne. Somehow my glass kept getting filled, and well, I had had quite a bit while my wig was being fluffed, teased, etc. More to the point, I became lushy loose lips, and dished myself as well as...

hells bells, am I supposed to be ashamed of expressing my feeling about the drag? Im hurt by the notion that I'd deny the girl her skank fetish. Who's the victim here? I happen to think a girl should look pretty from head to toe, but that's just me. I hate the drag, but respect the queen. I must say I didn't think she was real. Thre are a few different kinds of drag shows here. There are the gay club shows, the hooker bar shows, and the huge flashy Vegasy shows referred to as "Cabaret." The huge shows are amazing. While they don't incorporate the intentional sense of irony that we NYers love so much in a show, they are SO excessive and overdone that they don't need it. They emulate big splashy musical and music videos. Every number had over 20 dancers in huge, HUGE, costumes. The set keeps changing like on...

i saw a show that sounds eerily similar... if not the same queen. in a neighborhood bar, packed back room with tables (no chairs) and the stage had stairs leading down to it from the back. i remember she held a pink and green plastic toy microphone in her hand for the lip synch. and that thai voice in the stand up section... i can still hear it in my head. incredible!!

I took a one day Thai cooking course. They actually cover a hell of a lot in one day! I'll soon be the green curry queen of NYC! So this guy I'm dating here in Chiang Mai, Wat, the one who had the circle jerks with the monks, he's really great to hang out with. I feel like a biker chick on the back of his motorcycle! You're lucky. Jewelry is sooo much easier to ship! So we went to this straight club called "Hollywood." It's set up like a NY dance club, a big room w/a stage, lots of lighting, and very loud techno. The difference: the room, even the would-be dance floor, is filled with cocktail tables. You either sit or stand at your table. Maybe 15% of the crowd will dance next to their table. Most people tend to get a bottle and mixers. We do that every night we go out drinking here. It's dirt cheap,...

This is a really crazy rambling message board about beauty pageants. There is a lot of anger at the "fags" involved in the business. Well, there's a lot of anger in general. It's twisted, check it out: PAGEANTS Scroll way down for most of the "FAG" posts. The pageant scene is like doll collecting, you get fags and ultra square Christian trash. Most everyone who knows me knows that I am a big Anne Rice queen, so naturally the last two books I read, on vacation last month, were Merrick, the new Mayfair Witches/Vamp Chronicles edition, and then the charming Pandora, which I had missed thus far. I am an avid Anne Rice reader. She is one of my absolute, favourite authors becuase she writes about sexual identity and eroticism (while telling a complex and [often] supernatural story), without confining her work to the social norms of our dull society. And so it may be due to that, that I disliked the Movie version of Queen of the Damned. I thought as a movie it fit the expectations of movie go'ers but for those that read the book it was just ridiculous. The ommission of important...
