Hi Kat -- If you're desperate for some images, I could pull off a couple from the video. It might not be the greatest quality, but I could email a jpeg you might be able to do something with. Really, a still dosen't seem to do the movement justice. So, did Jade have any prep for that voiceover? It went well. Selena

Hattie, do you have a copy of the "Christina the Party" video? Am I even getting the name right? It's Christina, right? The one who threw a mic stand at an audience member and got arrested? I am dying to see the video again. The only part I can remember clearly is the air piano number. If anyone remembers her, please post descriptions here of her performances.

I certainly agree that the film is supposed to be about one person and one story and that's totally fine. It's unrealistic and (from an artistic standpoint) inadvisable to try and portray everything and every scene going on during that time. The scope would be too wide and it would be confusing. It makes perfect sense for the producers to have focused on one aspect of it, in this case the Alig scene. What I meant by my comments about the diversity of NYC nightlife back then was that it's...

SEPTEMBER 30--Madonna's new "Hollywood" video is a blatant visual rip-off of the work of a late French fashion photographer, according to a federal copyright lawsuit just filed against the pop superstar. The son of photographer Guy Bourdin alleges that Madonna's video is filled almost entirely with reenactments of his father's distinctively racy images (Bourdin died in 1991 at age 62). The video was for their version of "Pretty Woman". It was briefly shown on MTV in its early days (1982?). It was degrading to women, and to Chrysis, who at the end had a wig pulled off her head as shock value, plus she was tied up on I think a swing. Probably tame considering what are shown in videos now.. Never seen it listed anywhere to view again. It was unforgettable none the less because she was so beautiful.

The Hasidic show was one of the strangest, image-wise. It is truly wonderful that the movie will document the Jackie energy. I only wish the filming would have taken place over more than the one year period because as whack as that 1999 was so much of the initial years' energy really was busting with total liberation zone antics. Actually, a show that starts at 10:15 in a nightclub is pretty early. Also, in New York we don't take things as literally as you do in Danbury. We can watch a video without the sound for instance. Who is staying in town for this hell? I have my ticket to San Francisco. Goodbye. They're putting up traffic blockades from 30th to 36th Street, and from 6th avenue to 9th Avenue. You will not be able to drive on the block without lots of ID, and they will video-screen underneath every vehicle passing into that area. No, Christopher, voter disenfranchisement in this country only applies to convicted felons, and it differs from state to state. Some states even allow prisoners doing time for felonies to vote from jail. Like Maine. "In New York State, you may not vote while you are incarcerated and your right to vote is immediately restored upon the expiration of the maximum sentance or when your parole ends, whichever occurs first." None of the non-violent protesters will be charged with a felony, many may...
