burning man is fabulous. it can renew my faith in humanity. and as a "ritual junkie" i'm so into the neo-pagan/cyber-shamanic aspect of the whole effigy burning in the desert thang. oh honey, didn't mean to jump down your throat - you are certainly welcome to your opinion and certainly don't need to apologize for it. I guess I was just surprised, that's all. I guess another thing I really hate about Fla. is the overt racism. In South Beach every time Johnny went down to DJ he would be wined and dined and put up somewhere like the Delano (or in happier times, The Raleigh) - the star treatment, right? But then at least once on every visit he'd be stopped and asked for...

That was you??? I remember that show, it was genius! "Black like Jackie" was good as was "Fidler In The Hood" but I think we really perfected Blackness in '99 with "Uncle Charlie's Cabin". Truly one of my faves. It was so over the top! It's really hard to shock people today, especially at one of our events but... black total top masters and their white pussy boy slaves in cages and all set in the pre-civil war South had people's jaws on the floor! Does anyone remember Michael T.'s "New York Nights" at the Pyramid around 1992? It was on Monday nights (Blacklips later replaced it) and cost $1 to get in and featured the "Cabaret of Madness" featuring early me, Michael T., Hattie and the ever-talented Countess Jessica (Hattie could delve further into this untapped resource, perhaps). I remember being locked in there one night when there was a mini squatter riot on Avenue A. What ever happened good old-fashioned riots anyway?

In keeping with Dresscode's theme, Rose came attired in a skintight floor lenght sheath and the sucker was so tight she had to cross her legs to walk so after a night of serving drinks in this getup, we shared a cab. As is my wont, I waited with the cabdriver until my daughter was in the house. It had to be seen to be believed. First she couldn't get up the first step. Apparently she was OK coming down but going up was a different issue. The handbag was going in one direction, the keys in...

So last night, I went to have my hair done for Wigstock. It turned out that my friend Creighton who does my hair was having a film documentary done about doing the wigs for this final festival (he also does Bunny's, Linda's, etc). So unlike our ususal hair sessions, this one was fueled by champagne. Somehow my glass kept getting filled, and well, I had had quite a bit while my wig was being fluffed, teased, etc. More to the point, I became lushy loose lips, and dished myself as well as...

I asked my trashed self. LUCKY CHENG'S!!!!! I walked over to LC's and, after flagging down 15 cabs, the 16th cab to stop said that he would take me home for free. We drove west to Central park, he parked, and we went at it in the park at 3am!!!!! I got a free ride home!

Thre are a few different kinds of drag shows here. There are the gay club shows, the hooker bar shows, and the huge flashy Vegasy shows referred to as "Cabaret." The huge shows are amazing. While they don't incorporate the intentional sense of irony that we NYers love so much in a show, they are SO excessive and overdone that they don't need it. They emulate big splashy musical and music videos. Every number had over 20 dancers in huge, HUGE, costumes. The set keeps changing like on...

You're lucky. Jewelry is sooo much easier to ship! So we went to this straight club called "Hollywood." It's set up like a NY dance club, a big room w/a stage, lots of lighting, and very loud techno. The difference: the room, even the would-be dance floor, is filled with cocktail tables. You either sit or stand at your table. Maybe 15% of the crowd will dance next to their table.
