Hello Mother!! I know it's been a while...but I'm still here. I guess the the blue ones were the ones worn the most. Perhaps the reason I remember the white ones were because they were at eye level as I was lounging on the chaise (underneath the big mirror) in the Versailles Room one evening.

I am not a bloodie Rainbow person that I think I can (or do I want?) to live without money. What I am talking about is the emphasis that is placed on the profit motive - as being more important than anything else. To the point that no-one recognizes any other reason for doing anything. There are plenty of interpersonal relationships that are all about "do for me, gimme". Lovers and spouses degenerate into money-sucking. What artist would not like to make a living doing what they love to do? I don't understand your contempt for those who are able to. If it makes you feel better, I do not believe that most of those painters are rich at this moment, but even if they were, this would not make them a bunch of whores. If they are now getting media attention and a place in history, that doesn't make them sell-outs. The Soho art scene was crowded then, and getting way too blue-chip and over-valued. The fact that a...

I never went to Le Jardin. (some things actually were before my time) but Chi Chi and I worked with John Addison (the owner of Le Jardin and Xenon) later on. What a character! The music was so happy back then. I was listening to Larry Levan recorded at The Paradise Garage the other day and I was really surprised by how hopeful the music was. Everything was so new that anything seemed possible. (of course being 17 doesn't hurt either) When I go hear "Big Room" DJs now the music seems so dark.

One steamy August afternoon when I was 6 or 7, my older brother took me to a run-down movie theatre just off the Grand Concourse in The Bronx to see a showing of The Blue Angel. Little wonder that I turned out the way I did! I have read the Riva book. I don't think it portrays Marlene in a bad light at all. One thing it makes you realize is that Dietrich was a very smart cookie indeed. There is a bit about her hunting for the perfect veil for a hat that is amazing-- this woman was totally in...

We could hear the amplified sounds of the Islam singing and chanting echoing across the square. One building would sing, the other would respond, a whole call and ...

Mykonos is GORGEOUS. It's pre-season here, but still lovely. All white adobe houses with blue shutters and lots of winding pedestrian streets. Just a note: one of the dances he does (after "The Song Of The Inadequacy Of Human Striving", when Carlos, me and Tiger Brown and his mugs on stage right glide off) is a version of a dance that Jim's father taught him and was, in turn, taught by his father. Jim worked with Aszure Barton to incorporate it into the song. So, what you are seeing is a dance that has roots in the 1830's-- or even earlier! A dance...

I saw this thing on the ovation channel with Nina doing a concert. When she performed "see-line Woman" she started dancing and the crowd cheered her on. So I hope she doesn't mind being remixed for the modern-day dance floor, because some of her originals are funky and the material I've heard remixed, like "see-line" "Little Girl Blue" "Feeling Good", etc., are really good. But she's dead so I can't really speak for Nina.
