Ah, Parisian Lives is the actual autobiography I think. I am not sure which book, but one (it may even be $tud) involves a biracial gay love affair in 1963 that takes place in Dallas, with all of the expected difficulties. One of the tenants in their boarding house is a man they think is named Harvey Lee. In the last chapter, they are leaving to start a new life in Chicago, and happen to glance out of the train window and see a bit of frantic activity in the area around the Texas Book...

It takes a very talented actor to play a man who is a drag queen/transgender. Did anyone see "Soldier's Girl"? The actor who played Calpernia Addams, Lee Pace, was excellent. Having a WOMAN play Candy is just so banal. They really should pick a man. http://www.calpernia.com/soldiersgirl/ http://www.sho.com/site/schedules/product_page.do?episodeid=116815&include=06production_notes.inc&seriesid=0 Some stuff about Lee Pace preparing to play the TG Calpernia.

I think Daddy mentioned this before but I read today that the Roxy will close next year. Not really surprised but it's the only real big club left with some history to it. I havn't been there in ages, but it was one of the first clubs I went to when I moved to New York in 1992. Lee Chappel's Locomotion parties on Saturday nights were sooo much fun back in the early 1990's , I don't care for the all male thing on Saturday nights now(totally boring and very dull) but I really like the space...

Kitten, I just looked you up online and you seem to be somewhat worldy and intelligent. That makes it all the more shocking to me that you think it's OK to kill someone because he sold drugs. I am constantly horrified by how easily some people are to excuse murder because the guy threw cool parties. Michael did not create "club kids" People were dressing up and going out way before he got here. There were tons of parallel scenes happening at the same time as his. To name a few: Sussanne...

Re: Los Angeles--do you hate it?

A Tale of Two Cities. To me NYC and LA are not as different as everyone else claims. Both towns have extreme juxtapositions of lofty illusion and hard reality, and that very mix is what attracted me to NYC in the first place. Both cities are ground zero for flocks of people seeking stardom, and both have their metaphoric boulevards of broken dreams. Is it the urban blight that turns people off LA? There used to be plenty of that right here in Manhattan, though not so much anymore. Ditto for...

When I did wigs for Miss Channing she was delightful. I loved squeezing into a tiny hotel bathroom to cut her wig on her. Afterwards she took it off and out fell her shoulder length white hair and she also lost the souther accent. I asked her where she was from and she said Connecticut but that ever since she played Lorilie Lee in " Hello Dolly " she couldn't shake the southern accent. What a doll. And a few years after that I was standing at the ferry dock to Fire Island and she and the...

Gerard Little's birthday is Monday, April 26. He would have been 55. I grew up with Gerard in Hackensack, NJ. Gerard, Kevin Richardson and I spent those deeply formative years from 12-20 as our own clique and each others' biggest fans. We delivered newspapers, went to movies, worked at BK, danced at CYO's, chased girls (sometimes each others) and began the transformation from what we were born to what we were born to be.
