No matter what happens, at least we can say goodbye to the Bush adminstration. Let's review! Sept 11th – the so-called "party of national security" was evidently asleep at the switch during the single greatest assault against our country in history. Granted one can make the case that the attacks were the result of decades of American interference in the Middle East and indict all administrations going back to the late 1960s. But the fact remains that the attack happened on Republican watch.

Darla Diamond ·
Description of Personal Attack A personal attack is committed when a person substitutes abusive remarks for evidence when attacking another person's claim or claims. This line of "reasoning" is fallacious because the attack is directed at the person making the claim and not the claim itself. The truth value of a claim is independent of the person making the claim. After all, no matter how repugnant an individual might be, he or she can still make true claims.

Everyone is free to dislike the Christo installation, but like it or dislike it on its own merits, not by its price tag. The "I could've done it myself for less" gripe has been done ad nauseum since Warhol painted a Campbell's soup can. Everybody looked at it, scratched their heads and said "I coulda done that". But they didn't do it, Warhol did it and it changed history and inspired legions of future artists. Likewise with the "in this day and age" bit, as if there weren't world problems or...

And if you think it's bad or mediocre art, fair enough. I just think it's lame to attack it for its monetary cost. Throughout history there have always been floods, droughts, plagues, earthquakes, etc that have destroyed human lives and communities. Does that mean we should not have art? When politicians just look at a certain cultural sector as just another part of their military/administrative/supervisory functions then the American Government's war against its own citizens is thrown in to high relief. It is a ripoff against this politician's own constituency, a kind of bureaucratic drunkenness and lack of foresight.
