Re: Miss Understood's Hi from Thailand

Miss Understood ·
The food here is amazing. There are many levels, but even the cheapest stuff you get on a streetcorner amazing. See, everything's cheap for what it is. If you eat in a cute cozy place that has an atmosphere, you can get a great meal, and I mean with seafood and all, from $3-$5. If you want to go for luxury, which I really don't do, You can pay up to like $20, I guess maybe even more, and eat in some palatial gourmet restaurant that would cost $100 back home. But on a streetcorner, well,...

Re: Miss Understood's Hi from Thailand

Miss Understood ·
Wow. I went to Pattaya to see the drag shows. We went to two, "Alcazar" and "Tiffany". While they were both dazzling, Tiffany, which started in the 70's, blew Alcazar out of the water! While the photos on their website look great, they don't begin to translate all the glitter and texture of the costumes, nor the kinetic grandeur of the sets... but go take a look around anyway: Tiffany Website On the "show preview" page, give it time to load and it becomes a little roll-over-the-photo...

Michael's lover Gareth sent me a note that Michael died last night between 8-9PM, at Saint Vincent's of complications due to HIV/AIDS which he had been fighting bravely for years. Gareth shut off his med tubes at 8PM because Michael loved curtain time. I'm sure many of you remember the pierced and tattooed very handsome couple, Michael and Gareth who frequented Jackie 60, Click & Drag and recently Cheez Whiz. Michael was an actor/songwriter. He was one of the girls in "Cage" on Broadway...

Hatches -- It was impressive to meet you, such a stately figure of consequence with a wise, yet subdued kindness. I hope you like the Jackie 60 Fashion Forward shwag, I apologize for the interruption in your stage performance last night (that was not my doing, ahem, Daddy - I much prefer being on the dance floor!) ------------- As I continue to delve into NYC in the 80s, I find more and more information about DWs work and the artists he collaborated with. The first time I saw Diamanda was at Lincoln Center performing Insekta. I was totally freaked out, (in a good way) and when she actually started coming out of the cage......My first thought was "Ahhhh, run! She's loose!" Then another time I saw her at Joe's Pub and at one point in the show, her face morphed into someone else for about 2 seconds, I swear she conjures up demons or ghosts. She was totally possessed. Absolute Goddess! love her to death.

Re: Beams to New Orleans

S'tan ·
Unbelievable. Imagine being fired upon as you are trying to walk out. I have one question: were these health workers black? It reminds me of Daniel DeFoe's "A Journal of the Plague Year 1666" when the people trying to escape the plague were murdered by the outlying villagers who feared the disease. ------- Update a day later: 3 laboratory rats with the bubonic plague have escaped from their cage in Newark, New Jersey.

Got to see her when she was touring with John Paul Jones. Of course, most of the other concergoers were there to hear "Stairway to Heaven." During a pause between songs and in total darkness I had the following exchange: ME [screaming at stage]: DIAMANDA!!! SHE [after a studied pause]: Yeah, baby? ME: I LOVE YOU! SHE [after a longer pause]: Thank you, baby. Rumor has it that one of her forthcoming albums in Insekta , which she performs in a cage suspended from the ceiling. That's...

...Speaking of white dogs going after you... the big venue here is the "Casanova Night Club." Every time I drive by I think of the puppy, Daddy, and start laughing! It is so not Casanova, it's a falling down barn with big plastic Budweiser signs all over it, and is right next door to a some kind of Sump Pump thing. F-150s back out of it nice and slow into the 80- MPH oncoming traffic on the highway, around one AM when it closes. It's a pit. On a happier note, the bunny is doing very well. He...

I let the Bunny go last Wednesday. Living in a cage was too sad... I kept the cats in the house for four days to give him a chance to find a hutch, or dig one. I came home last night to a big frog on the portale, greeted him "Hey there!" They like to come in the house and look around. The cats usually don't bother them... About a foot away from Frog though was a neatly coiled Rattlesnake -- Rattlesnake: Oh hell, it's one of those freaks walking on its split tail... Frog: It's just The...

Bleh! My pal who is an organic farmer told me once I cage a rabbit, I gotta keep it. No such thing as "releasing back into the wild." Yeah, the cage fight was over the top! The faces of the people watching were horrific. We really live in a bubble. America can be a VERY ugly place. The scene where he gets Ron Paul in the bedroom and then strips down to his thong was surreal. The "cool, hip" Ron Paul screaming about the "queer" coming on to him was very telling. Not so "cool". It's really amazing that he hasn't been killed. Like when he's in Gaza (or wherever it was) talking to the Palestinian terrorist and he says, "Your...

We can’t live because we’re so tied up trying to survive. We are lonely. Our hearts cry out for connection, struggling to escape from society’s cage, struggling to make a difference in a numb, uncaring world. These two lines up above sum up living in Baltimore. A man wearing women’s clothes was stabbed to death this past Sunday, don’t know who he is but he is no longer struggling to survive, hope he’s in a better place,, what the “F” am I saying,, hell is a better place than Baltimore
