Re: Join us at Hooker's Ball 4 New Year's Eve

Chi Chi ·
I am incredibly superstitious about this, resulting in my having done a countdown somewhere on Earth for the past 15 years - almost. The one year I wasn't onstage at midnight was 2001 - nuff said! That's why this year was especially gorgey as the stage was CRAMMED with people I adore, including you (and Flow of course) Betty, my hubs, Dolly, Lily, Amber and Eliza, Bootboy and Dale Devere, Andrea Bouzewah etc. I am rare among club folk because I LOVE New Years and particularly the countdown...

I've been to several of those Russian clubs to do a quick number for a birthday, etc. Unfortunately I've never caught the shows. I'm dying to go but I always work weekends. Are there any good ones on Thursday or Sunday? One club has approached me about doing a weekly drag show. If it happens, we have to bus you folk out to Brooklyn!

His voice is like the Earth itself singing (or the male aspect of it anyway). Totally real! He had many of the then cutting edge counter culture singers on his television show in the 1960s like Bob Dylan (several times). I must admit it was AFTER Dylans motorcycle accident when he no longer had that edginess with an abandon that he had prior to it, but he was still way out there as far as Mr. and Mrs. Average American was concerned. Johnny Cash, one of country music's most iconic figures, has died at the age of 71. Cash died at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, "due to complications from diabetes, which resulted in respiratory failure", said Lou Robin, his manager. The announcement shocked fans, who had been relieved to hear that Cash had been released from hospital on Tuesday after three weeks of treatment for an inflammation of the pancreas. Although Cash had been hospitalised frequently over the past several...

Picture this Cautious Lips, Cookie is on her way to see an art show so she can review it for her weekly review in The East Village Eye ( local arts newspaper of the east village) I run into her on 57th street uptown and she invites me to join her. The opening is in a gallery on the 9th floor of a building on W.57th St. We arrive early before anyone so she can see all the work clearly without anybody in the way. We take the elevator to the 9th floor and the door opens right into the gallery.

Aside from how much we hate this farce, isn't anyone in the City government concerned about the security issues? A Convention in the hot month of September... (no doubt they will trumpet their 'triumph' over 9/11 to death)... in a City with overtaxed resources ... Would this not be a 'perfect moment' for the terrorists to go all-out and try to take out Bush and his cronies? I kind of can't believe it is being allowed. It is massive hubris at the expense of all the folk who live here.

It's sickening. I just find everything so segregated nowerdays. I think it was that turning when black folk in the music industry decided to become gangsters and all about bitches and bling. Which was idolized by white folk in the sticks. I think that was the real downfall on the mix of music and people. Thank God I remember those dub days too. I agree Lex but the really outrageous thing is why gay men have sex in public bathrooms in the first place. The heterosexual world condemed gay sex for so long and made it illegal, thereby driving gay men into the closet and into the dark backrooms and secret places where we could meet. There were no gay church socials or dating services or public community meetings where gay people could meet and socialize like the straight world around them.
