Just was given this real powerful documentary - Life and Debt by Stephanie Black - fantastic!!!
About the impact of economic globalization on jamaica... how America has monopolized the food /trade industry underpricing goods to the island, inflation on debts to world monetary fund. Banana farmers getting pressure from the American owned monopolys... just sick how the local average people have been totally cut out of the market by this sick globalization... ahh i need to move to Chiapas fast. http://www.pbs.org/pov/pov2001/lifeanddebt/thefilm.html
On the high streets in Europe there are stores where u can purchase goods which actually support local communities - anti globalization stores basically (whats the store name???) .. wish there were these stores here in the states... feel sick really that I add to this .. try catch this doc. if u can or at least check out the web site..

Generally, the main effect of globalization is the increased exploitation of the most economically marginal workers and communities for the advantage of multi-national corporations and the governments that ride along for the profit. The government of India was actually in talks to sell the Ganges River to a water bottler who would just bottle the water and sell it to the locals who used to just haul it out for themselves for free.
Have you seen the Walmart commercials where they play that super patriotic Christian music and tell everyone how Walmart HELPS all the small businesses in a community? How THEY bring people to shop at all the smaller stores.
(How they help the little guy go OUT of business more like)
