Hey Smile

I had the 5 very best shots from the Michael Chikiris photo shoot professionally scanned. (including a much better copy of the image above)

I've posted them in our Flickr Account. You can get there by clicking on the photo of Greer and Muffin below.

Greer Lankton by Michael Chikiris
I have some exciting news, and a favor to ask.

Earlier in the month we had taken a long weekend trip to stay with Jojo, and he gave us a bit of a project...

He's recently uncovered a VHS tape that someone had given him of Greer called "The Contortionist" it is prior to her operation and she's credited as "Greg Lankton"

Jojo says Greer loved to tie herself up in knots and stay in contorted positions, so she and her sister created this home movie. It is really Greer in an impossible number of positions, time lapsed. She manages to cover every square inch of furniture and spot in the room before the film is done.

So, our task was to find a way to get this gem onto DVD and YouTube. We've now enlisted our friends who do "Meet Cleaver Theater" to help with getting it transfered, edited and compressed for web.

Now here's the favor.

We're going to create a couple versions. The original has some circus type music in it that Jojo really felt took away from the timelessness of the piece, and doesn't reflect Greer's personality very well.

We'd love to pick a song that represents her better and also goes with the theme of contortion. Any ideas?

Of course we'll keep the original version too. Smile

Although I didn't know her, I think something ambient and brooding might work, something from Aphex Twin's selected Ambient works vol. II, such as "Stone in Focus", "Tassels", or "Radiator" maybe even "Domino"
Hey Smile

Thanks for the suggestions! I've checked out all the tracks you've mentioned, and think that Donmino could be a contender. It has a similar melodic quality to the original music, and some of Greer's motions remind me of falling dominos.

I think the best thing might be to get the original out there first so people could see it and be inspired. Smile

You're right, having that visual would be the thing. I have been really interested ever since you posted about it and would love to see it. What a discovery and a treasure!
Hey Smile Actually, we're not sure if the music was chosen/integrated by Joyce Randall, or by Greer, but nonetheless point taken.

Jojo Baby was keen on picking something a bit less dated... but we haven't gotten a big outpouring of other people wanting it changed. As a result, the versions that are up there now will probably remain out there as is. Smile

Some fantastic news from The Mattress Factory, last weekend Greer's "It's all about ME, Not You." Was installed as a permanent exhibit on their 3rd floor.

A gallery has been placed up on Flickr HERE.

An update on "The Contortionist" video. Joyce Randall found it on Youtube and provided more information. Apparently there are more! Smile

Hi. I shot this around 1977 or so. We used a super 8 camera and bought black and white film for it. This is a stop action animation. Cable release click..click..click... It should run at 24 fps, but I transferred it to video which 30 fps. I only made two copies. I have one and Greer had one. I should try to find other movies Greer and I made together.
