Greetings from downtown New York City to our beloved Gypsies, and all who have joined this us since last year's NOTS. We hope you are warm and enjoying this brand new year, with all its hope and challenges. We are overjoyed to announce the date and theme for the 2009 NIGHT OF 1000 STEVIES 19. After so much positive feedback about last year's new venue - THE HIGHLINE BALLROOM - we are happy to be returning there this year. NOTS 19: SONGS OF RHIANNON will be held on Friday, May 1, and tickets will go on sale on February 1.

This year's theme - and the centerpiece of the show - are the ten "SONGS OF RHIANNON" penned by STEVIE NICKS in her BUCKINGHAM NICKS days. Some are well loved and well known, like RHIANNON, PLANETS OF THE UNIVERSE, ANGEL and SORCERER, others are only demos. In stage decor, visuals and costuming, we'll pay homage to the Celtic white witch RHIANNON - fitting for a date that is both MAY DAY and BELTANE.

Our next announcement will have lots more details, including first confirmed performers, more about the theme, and box office information. We wanted to get the date out this weekend so you can begin to make plans, and will be back in touch when the box office opens.

A NOTE TO PERFORMERS

All performers who have played at NOTS in the past, let us know your intentions for this year as soon as possible, or by March 1 the latest. Look out for a separate email in the next week or so with more information about this year's theme and the Rhiannon Songs in particular. We do NOT need song requests this early, but you are welcome to send them along (especially if they are one of the ten Rhiannon Songs).

If you are a new performer who would like to apply to perform at NOTS 19, please email us at events @ jackiefactory.com by March 1, and we will send you full instructions on how to apply.

BOX OFFICE AND TICKETS

Advance tickets $20 February 1-15 (a thank-you to our longtime attendees)
$25 after February 15 and at the door if available.
Box Office opens February 1 on the HIGHLINE BALLROOM site

THE REST

Night of a Thousand Stevies is probably the best-known STEVIE NICKS fan event in the world, a riot of shawls, lace, baby's breath, twirling, tambourines and great performance. This event began at JACKIE 60 nineteen years ago with four performers, and has grown into a true spectacle, featuring countless interpretations over a marathon night. As always, this Enchanted evening will climax in a twirl of shawls and tambourines with the Battle of a Thousand Stevies near morning.

As we once again prepare for a truly magical night, we are humbled by the very special joy and tremendous support that you bring to NOTS every year. Special greetings to all of our friends from the Stevie Nicks websites and other online outposts for the Gypsies That Remain. Forward and post freely, and we look forward to twirling with all of you, NOTS Legends and newbies alike, on May 1.

And The Love Remains -

Chi Chi Valenti, Hattie Hathaway and Johnny Dynell
Producers, NOTS 19

Greetings from a springlike Sunday in downtown New York City to our beloved Gypsies, performers and friends. Here is more news about NIGHT OF 1000 STEVIES 19: SONGS OF RHIANNON, coming on May 1. This year's theme revolves around the "SONGS OF RHIANNON" penned by STEVIE NICKS in her BUCKINGHAM NICKS days, and the legend of the Celtic witch RHIANNON, so central to Stevie's mythology. The box office is now open for this marathon night on the HIGHLINE BALLROOM site, and discount ($20) tickets are also available there for the next two weeks.

Our first confirmed performers span many of the unique and timeless stars that make "The Night" so special, and the search is now on for this year's new discoveries. Returning Legends of Stevie Realness already include NYC Dragstars (and Project Runway supermodels) SHERRY VINE and SWEETIE, AMBER GARBO (Las Vegas), GYPSY WILDE, JAZMEN FLOWERS (Mississippi), CHARLENE CORAN (Colorado), THE DIVINE GRACE, LIZZIE DAVIS (Texas), NOTS starlets HEATHER LITTEER (aka JESSICA RABBIT DOMINATION), TIFFANEY of MIRROR IN THE SKY and AMBER RAY, and singer/songwriter ADAM JOSEPH. Show producers CHI CHI VALENTI and HATTIE HATHAWAY will serve as "Enchantresses of Ceremony" and all-Stevie/Fleetwood DJs CRAIG SPENCER, SAMMY JO and POISON EVE will keep the dancefloor twirling between show sets. If you are a new performer who would like to apply to perform at NOTS 19, please email us at events@jackiefactory.com by March 1, and we will send you full instructions on how to apply. We welcome all forms of Stevie homage including vocals, dance performance, lip-synch, musical numbers and performance art, but cannot accomodate full bands.

Our next newsletter will include the RHIANNON-influenced suggested dress code, artwork, and latest confirmed performers, and updates are always available on our NOTS WEBSITE, the NOTS MYSPACE and the ENCHANTED GYPSIES forum on THE MOTHERBOARDS NYC

Howdy Daisy Mae...Here are a few links that may help you on your quest for a pet friendly motel in the City...Surely something here will be fairly close to the venue, & not all that pricey...I would love to see you at The Cosmopolitan, but am not sure of there pet policies & am looking for a little something closer to the venue myself...Still, I hope this helps &&& weed well Yummo Wink...Twirl On Lady...

Thanks everyone for the GREAT response so far to the artwork - Daddy worked REALLY hard on it and it shows!
That's right Gypsy.
Also known as "The Green Man".
He's an ancient Pagan symbol of rebirth (as in spring) and usually seen on Beltane (May Day)

quote:
The Green Man motif has many variations. Found in many cultures around the world, the Green Man is often related to natural vegetative deities springing up in different cultures throughout the ages. Primarily it is interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, or "renaissance," representing the cycle of growth each spring. Some speculate that the mythology of the Green Man developed independently in the traditions of separate ancient cultures and evolved into the wide variety of examples found throughout history.
