Japanese rock, noise art, and pop is extraordinary. Has that familiar alien thing going on. Somehow in both image and sound, they're able to blend stuff that's cool with stuff that's dorky and create something that's ultracool, in a way westerners will never be able to reproduce. The Japanese music scene brings out my inner whore.
