Yes, the rumors are true, the corner of 14th and 9th is being turned into the 3rd Apple Store in Manhattan. It's where Belgian gastro-pub Markt and Western Beef used to be. See: http://www.ifoapplestore.com/stores/meatpacking_0507.html

As someone who used to live 4 blocks away, I'm conflicted about this one. It's one more nail in the coffin of the Meatpacking District. Really, does every neighborhood in the city have to be the same as every other, no matter how posh? But I am somewhat of a Mac devotee and I have, in fact, been accused of being a member of some kind of cult. I mean, just because I have black Apple staff t-shirts, that doesn't mean I can't criticize the mothership in Cupertino.

At this point, I'm not even sure it's anything worth complaining about. One way or another though, it's Giuliani's fault.

Essentially you have a retail wasteland.

An entire metropolitan zone converted into the most dense regional retail development.

Something about as hostile to human life as you could concoct outside of just a chemical bath.

You walk in and they plug the credit card scanner in to your neck.

That's not really an end though.

You'll see.
You will be able to get it all at the Museum of Human Thought.
