WMC 2008

Music By

Richie Santana & Peter bailey w/ Carlos Fauvrelle

Side room - Dean K, Pauly Raffaele (Sinsation) and Vinny Rue (Trust us)

Back Room - KLUTCH (Hip Hop, rock, Mash ups)

"To control one's mind and body with music" is what DJ/Producers Peter Bailey & Richie Santana set out to do every time they perform,

Mind Control was the dream of the two life-long friends in late 2006 and was named after their huge hit on Stereo Productions, "Mind control." Mind Control events began at the world famous Pacha NYC (where Peter Bailey and Richie Santana both have a monthly residency), but have grown in popularity and have been well received at some of the most famous dance floors in the world! Not only do crowds love to hear these two djs play together, but watching them work back and forth and truly enjoying what they do is another reason Mind Control is so popular.

The duo just signed with Star 69 to create a dual compilation entitled, "Mind Control." This WMC party at GEM will also be the release party kicking off their European and American Tour celebrating the release of the CD.

As mind-numbing as these flyers look to me now, they do bring back many pleasant memories. Years ago I used to haunt the WMC ... some of those all-night parties were some of the best clubbing experiences I've ever had, especially the ones on outdoor decks where the club never closed and you could dance until noon the next day and watch the sun rise. I also liked some of the warehouse spaces downtown. The best was finding where a New York DJ was playing that I knew and hanging out. And WMC always brought gorgey Eurotrash boys, the "bi-curious" and the local Cuban/Latin American trade out in force. Snorts and pill-popping on the beach at 4 a.m. Ahhhh ...
It's like Spring Break.
It's fun for the kids.

It's hard for jaded old DJs.
It's a 24 / 7 DJ, Record Company promotional nightmare!

"Do you have the new _ _ _ _ _ ? (fill in the blank) It's fierce."
"Did you hear the new _ _ _ _ _ ? (fill in the blank) It's fierce."
"Are you going to _ _ _ _ _ or _ _ _ _ _ ? (fill in the blanks) It's going to be fierce".
"Did you go to _ _ _ _ _ ? (fill in the blank) last night? I heard she was tired"
"Do you know where I can get some coke?"
"What's the buzz record? I just got here."

This all spoken at the speed of light with jaws grinding away.

Don't get me wrong.
Everyone is having a ball and DJs are playing at their best. Competition is, well, fierce.
For me, let's just say it's TOO MUCH of a good thing.

I would much rather be at the toilet sessions with Pickles, Stuart, Aimee, Jake and the crew.

Yeah I went last year and it semed pretty empty of anything that at one time made it remotely fun or interesting. I played Susanne's party which was cute (despite hotel security chopping her capacity in half!) and I walked out with a fistful of business cards from people I will NEVER call. Daddy you spoiled me rotten and I think I have the mind of a 70 year old dj...and the body of an 80 year old one.
Too bad you never used my business card. I was vending a revolutionary new product to the industry. Stoke-yer-coke. A hand-cranked nasal plunger that dispenses up to half an ounce in less than 30 seconds while simultaneously providing a purity assay. Don't bother calling now though, I sold all the remaining stock at a porno convention in Pismo Beach last week.
