Re: I'm from normal parents (The Pyramid Club Topic)
This would be the start of a thread about "Whispers", the weekly party that ran at the Pyramid in NYC from 1984-1988 or 9. Modelled after a gay bar in upstate New York, it was billed as an event for the "Complete Suburban Homosexual" and welcomed "Gay and Lesbian Hairdressers, Waiters, Florists, Showfolk...and sensitive straight people" Hapi Phace was the hostess. Does anyone else remember this?

Re: I'm from normal parents (The Pyramid Club Topic)
Who could forget the ill-fated Cuchofritos? I remember going to The Pyramid one Sunday night in the early 90's - just as "Fuck!" was about to end. Being an NYU suck-in-your-cheeks gender-performance snob then (then?), I was anticipating a memorable show. Having read about the legendary likes of Ethyl and the Pyramid ilk, I wanted to be astounded. We were treated to a rather shoddy amatuer strip contest instead. But there was one redeeming factor...Hattie Hathaway and Richard Move MCing the...

Oh, Billy, I had NO idea there were pictures! I recall a tiny tea cart that we bought for $10 and used for "beverage service" and the barf bags... I also remember endless interruptions of the disco music with safety instructions ("Two in the front, two over the wings, and two in the back" and "In the unlikely event of a water landing...") Also, wasn't the next month's theme "News 101" with you as the Asian anchorwoman with your eyes taped?

Re: BURNING MAN
Well, it has taken weeks of thought on the issue to reach this decision, and it was tough, tough, tough...but after all the plans and arrangements, I've come to decide that I've simply got to attend Wigstock over Burning Man for the single and obvious reason: Burning Man will continue, Wigstock will not, and I've never been to Wigstock. I want/need that experience, end of story. However, Michael Alig at his height couldn't produce an event that could rival the boundless energy and creativity...

Re: BURNING MAN
in my opinion... the man is an effigy into which we project all of the attachments we have to the things we arrived there with - our art, our posessions, our egos - and then watch go up in flames. all the time, energy, money, and strife that goes into the event just burns so spectacularly. it's really powerful. (if you choose for it to be.) RVs are nice but expensive. domes are better and much, much hipper. but the US BUS is the swankienda to beat all. wishing you were cumming with me. i...

Re: Fashion, Sweetie
Partially out of solidarity with my possibly soon-to-be-cremated Hindu sisters and partially out of not-wanting-to-wear-fashion-to-the-fashion-event-sweetie, I've re-discovered my bright red and gold wedding sari that KB tricked out for the "Jackie Goes To India" bash some years back and have been featuring it nonstop for last few nights out, with red fishnet top under. It is a total blast wearing this, and gets you dressed so quickly and glamorously that you really see why all those...

Re: DH and the Fishsticks
So yes its true....Debbie and the Fishsticks brought the house down last Saturday night...I have to admit that all of us were really unsure about the event and if we should do anything , but who could say no to Patsy and Edina? Debbie looked amazing and sounded even better. She did "One Way or Another" while Garrett and I tore into each other like madmen and ripped apart our suits to reveal our shredded t-shirts that said Patsy and Edina in silver letters across them. Joanna and Jennifer...

AND BRING jOjO !!! actually just a funny semi-waking dream I had this morning. --actually caused, most likely, from watching the performance tape from the womb show, which I had not forced myself to sit through yet. After much pulling my hair, groaning, talking very loudly and repetitively to myself and pacing about the living room, I got through it. But what I realized is that YOU TWO twats were the ones to go into shock and hustle with tons of bustle off the floor when my audio came on!

Re: Rice Queens - The Anne Rice topic
I have many great things I wish to accomplish today (as every day). But I wanted to share my copy of Pandora with Mother's Rice Queens -- especially in timing with this coming event. This book means a great deal to me. In addition to it's amazing beauty, the purchase of it taught me one of the most valuable lessons in my life with regards to appreciating the quality of my life. Like most actually, I grew up quite poor. The year before I went to college (1989), my mother made $2000 for the...

Yes, that was me working the door for Nina Hagen (Top hat/diamonds aka rhinestones/plaid kilt) and I clearly remember you making your grand "green" entrance! You asked me about the guest list or something... Oh and later you came out and we talked about how crowded it was and the "heat factor" inside... did you catch Patrick McMullen when you came back out? YES of course the offer still stands, when ever you're ready. All I ask is that we do it some time after Dec.19th... I'm soooo crazed...

Another spectacular evening and show! The House of Dominantion always rocks and never fails to "titilate" Having the Amster. Red Light district theme added the perfect touch of sleaze to the festivities. Thanks again Chi Chi and Daddy. A New Years Eve Hookers Ball also happens to be a wonderful setting for an artist rendering of a peep show. Tanya did an amzing job, especially considering the amount of time she had to set it up in! And Tanya, where did you get a copy of a 1969 Playboy? Huh...

April 21 - 27, 2003 Week-long t*-girl party in LV Details at www.geekbabe.com/dlv Some girls find this group too tame, but it's a no-cost week-long rolling party structure. Get on the party bus (it's a metaphor, girl) for those events you want to go to and skip the ones you think are boring. There's no fee to register. There's no organization to join, there's no conference to attend (this ain't Southern Comfort, it's a vacation). We plan this every year because we like hanging out together...

Re: Michael Moore
The important thing I think we seem to be forgetting is that if everyone else who received an award acted like Mr. Moore, seizing every potential opportunity to browbeat us with their personal political views, wouldn't it eventually erode and demean the purpose of the event and the achievements of all involved? Will we go away from this remembering which actor/director put a year or two of their life into some project or that Mr. Big Mouth got into a shouting contest with his peers? Sure...

Am just emerging ... I have so much to say and so many thank yous to give that I know not where to begin ... I am off now to get Amoree (the piano playing girl) back on her bus, she has a show in Portland on Wednesday ... but I wanted to pop in here quick to answer Gato's question and make one little note of critical importance. Congratulations to everyone who sent up Arcadia. The living imagery was very steep and celebratory. My only suggestions, (and suggestions for the sake of nudging the production in to even better form than it was, not for the sake of criticism) would be to get the sound for live vocals a bit better on the board. I'm not sure if the problem is with the configuration of the gallery space or the actual board mix, Jade's MC'ing was particularly clear but the stage mics weren't delivering as well...

Seven Thank you so much! Thank-you for taking the time and care to write it. Originally, we had worked out a deal to record in a professional studio one month ahead of the event for the CD however 1) sponsorship interest had dropped when we went to war. 2) In order to have done the CD in the studio the artists had to have their songs ready to go by March 1, March 15 at the latest. Although most of the show was cast mid-Feb. Folks were just not working that far in advance. Mia worked very...

Re: JC Leroy (as Terence put it)
Thanks for the dialogue! Roman a clef always has been with us. 'Liaisons Dangereuses' is a great example. That book was a total scandal and banned when it appeared. The author was forced to write a book on the Joys of Marriage or some such drivel to clear his name. (That book was NOT a best seller...) In any event, what happened with Truman is he wrote in a 'fiction' (Answered Prayers) the details of a murder of a high society gent, by his wife, one of the grandes dames... The lady had...
