Re: Remembering Terence Sellers aka Mistress Angel Stern

Terence left this Earth this past month, I am deeply saddened that she is now gone from it. When I met Terence she was a very serious, striking and commanding person so I was certainly intimidated, it was obvious I was dealing with an intellectual so I needed to be at my best behavior and my most attentive in her presence. She was an accomplished writer, a luminary in the New York underground, and a maestra of an art I'd only read about; she could make the most debauched intellectual blush...

So last night, I went to have my hair done for Wigstock. It turned out that my friend Creighton who does my hair was having a film documentary done about doing the wigs for this final festival (he also does Bunny's, Linda's, etc). So unlike our ususal hair sessions, this one was fueled by champagne. Somehow my glass kept getting filled, and well, I had had quite a bit while my wig was being fluffed, teased, etc. More to the point, I became lushy loose lips, and dished myself as well as...

It seems there are a lot of people out there who are into dressing up as dolls or anime characters. Then there are these lycra fetishists who like to wear Leigh Bowery-esque faceless outfits. Here is a designer in Russia who makes these amazing monochromatic creations. I predict this will be the new club look of 2002. You will gag Minerva but I was there when that picture was taken. It was at the Victoria's Secret fashion show. I was DJing. Before the show I went out into the lobby to call my wife. I looked next to me and at the very next phone was a 3 1/2 foot Gary Coleman in a blonde wig! I was trying to tell Chi Chi quietly, "You won't believe this..." His seeming objection to the tendency of the media and others to paint rosy post mortem pictures fails to take into account some prerequisites of the moment, including timing, the emotions of the bereaved, and the fact the person in question or under attack is no longer here to defend themselves.
