Re: Tom Murrin AKA Alien Comic
Thank you for starting this topic Hatches.. Tom Murrin / The Alien Comic was our own Lipstick Traces from the Dadaists, a direct line from the Cabaret Voltaire to the stages of 8 BC, LaMama, Jackie 60, PS 122 and everywhere that really mattered in between. If you knew Tom or had ever seen one of his performances, you will know what a loss this is. From the entire Jackie Factory family, deepest condolences to all of his many fans, family and friends.

Re: Todd Tomarrow
In our Nightworld, there are two kinds of artists - those who labor over their own creations, and then those who add their talents to the creation of something larger than themselves. Todd was as brilliant as they come, but his art was in service to the collective, to the creation of club/art/style movements. That is why so many of you won't know his name, but you know his work. I'd like to point out his enormous contributions to the following over two decades - BoyBar (three of his Miss...

Going to be a great theme for 2011! I think Jon Stiers sent you a line about possibly performing - he rocks. Looking forward to see him entrancing the crowd with his voice and piano skills. Can we get Brook Alyson's butt here this year?

Re: Your favorite Jackie theme?
my favorite jackie theme would have to be the ball at ascot 1900. to me that was the most beautiful night. i loved getting to work and seeing the entire staff dressed and ready to entertain. other highlights were walking in and not being recognized or having to ask "who is that" someother very special events would have to include, california uber alleys, please kill me, low life, men, women and drag, i'm not a coke whore; i'm a model, telemundo 60, the absinthe drinkers........ what i miss...

We always miss the new york life when we are far and we especially miss the stinky meat district area where we use to walk to florent after staying out all nite at jackie 60, stay the way you are NYC we'll be back soon.

To set the record straight, I didn't even own a pair of chaps until the late '90's! But Dee Finley is indeed a happy Pyramid memory. She must've walked through those golden doors when she was 12. She was the first of all of us to have major tooth troubles. Now, thanks to Elizabeth Taylor, her smile is more perfect than it was that first day we laid eyes on her in 1982! And to think I owe my very presence at Jackie 60 to Dee (but that's another topic...) Joey Horatio, the Pyramid's amazing...

There were DEFINATELY pictures, I remember seeing the police horses. I wasn''t at the party but I remember hearing about it and seeing the pics. We did "Come Fly With Us" at Jackie 60 in the mid '90's. It was a House of Domination night with the girls as Stewardesses. I remember asking all the Queens on several Susanne Bartsch trips to collect as many vomit bags as they could. They ended up mopping everything for us- vomit bags, emergency instruction cards, life jackets, anything that was...

Re: Straight To Hell (Sex Stories)
Alot of you Jackie 60 regulars might remember my friend Jane (from the BBC). She was the one in the DJ Booth always with some piece of Latino eyecandy or some exotic Arabian knight. She would usually be the one reaping the benefits of late-night "Party Naked". I recently found out that she keeps a journal of her (s)exploits. I read one chapter about Redline Richie that was incredible. She also has one on Flowrider. I've asked her to start posting here. You will drool! One of her obsessions...

I can't easily jump in (being the world's ugliest gender-variant "thing" to come down the pike as most of you know) but this discussion is so smart & riviting. I've been around the drag world for years. It started at G.G. Barnum's in Times Square where I was a go go dancer. One day I got caught in the G.G. dressing room. The "girls" asked Miss Peter- The Sweetie of her day, "Can we keep him, Can we keep him Miss Peter?" They did. Never a tranny or a chaser I always appreciated "the...

Gareth shut off his med tubes at 8PM because Michael loved curtain time. Holly was a steam roller. She paved the way. She had one of the first galleries in SOHO. When SHE moved downtown EVERYONE moved downtown. Holly started so many people's careers. Too many to mention. She was often the first person to give an artist a break. Most of the household name artists of the 70's, 80's, 90's and beyond got their start somehow with Holly. Holly, subsequently, had one the best art collections in the world. Going to her apt. (57th Street) was like going to the Museum of...

when I saw you last at Jackie 60, but I was too shy to approach ... my boyfriend, ever the art and underground enthusiast, is a great fan of the art and writings of David Wojnarowicz and has been completely blown away by "Seven Miles a Second". In reading Mr. Wojnarowicz's bio to me, the band name 3 Teens Kill 4, kept sticking out in my head. It occurred to me at Jackie where I knew it from, are you not one of the founding members of that band? Perhaps next time we see you out, or somewhere...

What a great artical. That was my youth! I remember at the time older people telling us to "enjoy this time, it's not always like this". Now I see what they meant. Can you imagine opening a storefront gallery in the East Village for $500 today? That scene is where Chi Chi and I were hatched. Her writing, my records (our first gig was at The Time Square Show) everything we've done from JACKIE 60 and MOTHER to these MOTHERBOARDS all come from that kindergarden. It's ironic and fabulous to read...

Tara died suddenly last Monday from complications brought on by an untreated chronic bronchial condition. Versaille Room vets may remember Tara, one of a group of very pretty, quite passable Pan Asian/ Philipine young ladies who were regular customers @Mother. The girls were always followed by droves of chasers who would compete for the privilege of buying their drinks. They remained loyal to "Jackie 60" and even followed the legendary party downtown to Don Hill's. Among her coterie of...

No! A dancefloor is everybody's always!!! And I did love watching it--you two running off!! You couldn't pay people to look so jarred!! And the faux pas is mine. The theory was to make an interactive imprmptu video. The problem (well technically there were several glitches) but the biggest being -- the music is not yet appropriate for the dance floor, perhaps even to ears. If it was, people wouldn't have been so confused. But I got through it and had to laugh myself at the mockery I made.

I just got back from taping the Hookers Ball segment for Naked NY. It will be on tonight 12/30 at 10 PM and midnight, Metro TV. Some of the Jackie 60 movie/Museum of Sex Footage will also be shown - I'm not sure how much. Other guests included a gay psychic and a porn portrait artist. Really had a good time and hope it brings lots of visiting Hookers to the party!

I spent part of the New Years at dinner with my friend Yab who had been to Jackie 60 with me a few times. We lamented missing the fun and went out to seek our own at a few drinking contests with friends. Yab is an enthusiastic blogger, and reads more of these than anyone else I know. He sent me this link to a Hookers Ball report, and I think the author, Reive, is a member here (notsure.) Its very well written, regardless, and one more reminder of how small our Brave New World is. This is one topic where I find a lot of girls I know HATE her. I find it really interesting. I usually don't notice things like this (gender) but it's the intensity of the hatred that always astounds me. I don't find many boys who feel that way. I'm not a huge fan, I don't own any of her CD's but I do like some of her work. I also have a soft spot for her since I had to lip sync her "Smells Like Teen Spirit" cover in the "Kurt, Courtney and Jackie" play at Jackie 60 years ago.

When I was in 4th grade I used to draw swastikas on my books. I didn't really even know what they meant. It just felt "bad" and cool. I was so far removed from gas chambers and people suffering that it didn't really mean anything. (But it did get a reaction). It's like when people (like my wife) are obsessed with Jack The Ripper... I mean if you really knew Mary Kelly it would be different. (sorry Hattie, I know you knew her.) I think this Alig thing is a bit like that. I knew Angel. He was...

No he's not an actor! HE JUST GOT LUCKY!!!!!! (and yes, I'm bitter). OK, he's a very talented graphic designer, art director, video artist, well OK, artist in general. I'll give him that. But basically he's just a big Ham! A few years ago at Jackie 60 we cast him as Kurt Cobain in a Jackie's Playhouse production. He surprised the world with his dancing ability and his basic hambone personality. OK, he brought down the house but that's neither here nor there. Until then nobody thought of Rob...

I know I said that I never liked The Palladium but that's not really true. I didn't like the "trying to pretend it's Studio 54" thing that permiated the first year or so. The Steve & Ian "VIP room to nowhere" sort of thing. (If it wasn't for Haoui Montaug running the door it would have been a TOTAL nightmare) but... While on this trip I read Michael Moore's "Stupid White Men". To all of you out there with any concern about what's happening in America, it's very important to go get this book. I know it's time to end this blabbering, but I just need to tell you about yesterday. Yesterday I really realized how wealthy we are in the US. See, I love slumming it in the street markets etc. and getting everything that's authenitc and cheap. But there's a real luxury circuit here that I'm pretty out of touch with. Like if you want to spend the $15-$20 for a meal that you might spend in NY at Yaffa Cafe, you can eat in some real swanky place equivilent to a $100 meal at home. I just don't...

Daddy, I ran Baba's business with him for about nine years in the 90's. It really transformed my life in many many ways. I have endless stories about that adventure. He 'went over to the great majority' -as they say- April 6. The cause was terminal stages of diabetes. Drums of Passion was recorded in 1958/9. Everyone from Dylan to Santanna had their musical heads whacked by it. Closer to home, Nina, Coltrane, Abbey Lincoln, Max Roach, Joan Baez, Mickey Hart, Jerry Garcia, -all fell under the...
