I know I said that I never liked The Palladium but that's not really true. I didn't like the "trying to pretend it's Studio 54" thing that permiated the first year or so. The Steve & Ian "VIP room to nowhere" sort of thing. (If it wasn't for Haoui Montaug running the door it would have been a TOTAL nightmare) but... right on. james and i were having a madonna conversation at the slipper room last saturday night. i put her in the same league as james brown -- miss saturn was hoola-hooping to j.b.'s "this is a man's world" and it brought to mind the number of different musical styles he has mastered. ultimately, we agreed that j.b., like johnny cash, has talent that's more real than madonna's, but when it comes to predicting, setting and mastering trends, they're both equal i think. unless madonna isn't...

September 15, 2003 Tell Us, Doctor, What Is It About Models? By GUY TREBAY New York Times In 1953, Dr. Edmund Bergler, a New York psychoanalyst trained at the Freud Clinic in Vienna, focused his analytic intelligence on understanding that most sadly neglected field of human pursuits: fashion. The result was a book, "Fashion and the Unconscious," a matchless addition to the literature both of homophobia and of claptrap. Dr. Bergler was not the first to suggest that the will to hoax womankind...

I can say from first-hand experience that posting anything about Gary Indiana will get you hexed and you'll lose everything.... I like a few authors who are supposedly publicity shy, and if you don't like publicity you don't do things and stunts like JT Leroy. I went to a lot or Alig's parties at the Tunnel. They were major, I really loved the invites in those days, boxes of candy, plastic tools, etc. I remember he put one of those huge inflatable carnival things that little kids would jump in on the subway tracks. I loved his outlaw parties even more, they were so anarchist in the best anti-social/social engineering kind of way. But I have to say that the Disco 2000/Limelight scene years after that was not as alluring to me. I could see the...

I certainly agree that the film is supposed to be about one person and one story and that's totally fine. It's unrealistic and (from an artistic standpoint) inadvisable to try and portray everything and every scene going on during that time. The scope would be too wide and it would be confusing. It makes perfect sense for the producers to have focused on one aspect of it, in this case the Alig scene. What I meant by my comments about the diversity of NYC nightlife back then was that it's...

How choked up I got when I heard that Marlon Brando had died today. I felt an era coming to a close. Mao tse Tung did the five C's and then some. It is just another subterfuge to call NWO a management system. As originally instituted as a pragmatic social system it was just called Totalitarianism.
