Re: Occupy Wall Street
I most highly recommend everyone at least go down and take a walk through the park, even though with all the people and chaos that isn't too easy to do. It just FEELS really good. You will not regret your time there. Here is a direct link to a map of the park, including closest train stops (use the map zoom in for more detail ), since it is not a well known site to most:...

Now that the adolescent Drudge Report view of the world (delusionally preoccupied with thoughts of scabies, defecation, deviant sex crimes) has been exposed irrevocably as lies, it is interesting to see Bloomberg now expose himself as being completely unmayoral. He's fine when he's chaperoneing a multi-billion dollar mega development of the west side rail yards in Chelsea or cutting massive tax breaks for his cronies on Wall Streeet. But when he has to deal with a social dilemma he outs...

I guess everytime the chant went up in the park that "FOX NEWS LIES!", there was a latent apprehension of a fact, people who watch Fox News have been statistically proven to know less than people who do not watch any news at all ! http://publicmind.fdu.edu/2011/knowless/ http://slatest.slate.com/posts...or_news_stories.html So now that we have a nation running on debt instead of capital, we have a news company that instaed of informing people keeps them dumb.

Re: Hurricane Irene on the Motherboards NYC
Seems the wind action here on the Westside was minimal; I have seen many pics of broken trees in the EV and Tompkins Square Park. Now the issue of flooding and tidal surges remains for this neighborhood. I look out the window and see joggers. Nothing will stop them, apparently. I can also see about 3 feet of water on (the now closed?) Don Hill's roof. Not good. Somebody should have cleaned out those drains! In this area the sea wall by the river is new and sturdy. Down at BPC and over in the...

Re: Remembering Terence Sellers aka Mistress Angel Stern
Terence left this Earth this past month, I am deeply saddened that she is now gone from it. When I met Terence she was a very serious, striking and commanding person so I was certainly intimidated, it was obvious I was dealing with an intellectual so I needed to be at my best behavior and my most attentive in her presence. She was an accomplished writer, a luminary in the New York underground, and a maestra of an art I'd only read about; she could make the most debauched intellectual blush...

Re: Sex With Taxi Drivers part 2
I went to Circus Monday night, got WASTED, spent ALL of money, but needed to take a cab home. "Where would the best place be to meet a cab driver looking for a little nookie at 3am?" I asked my trashed self. LUCKY CHENG'S!!!!! I walked over to LC's and, after flagging down 15 cabs, the 16th cab to stop said that he would take me home for free. We drove west to Central park, he parked, and we went at it in the park at 3am!!!!! I got a free ride home!

Re: Straight To Hell (Sex Stories)
A few years back I gave up a broom closet share on Seventh Street & First Ave and moved to a huge, two bedroom apartment in Park Slope with a plutonic gay male friend. (I only stayed there a year before deciding I couldn't deal with the commute and fled back to Manhattan). Anyway, my roommate and I agreed to have separate phone lines, and I used a pre-existing one in my bedroom. But my roomie had to have a brand new one installed, so he arranged for a NYNEX guy to come out on a Saturday...

It was Thanksgiving nite 1993 and Faux Pas and I had just had a scrumptious meal at my friend Sara's place in Grammercy Park. I was full of fabulous food, fine wine, and fierce herb. What more could a single twentysomething fella want in New York City at midnite? What? Sex you say? Why yes in deed, don't mind if I do. The nite was that kind of cold that was actually refreshing from being in a pot filled apartment for several hours. The air had that healthy quality, that made you enjoy each...

There was a followup story on NY1 tonight saying that residents and businesses in the affected area - which was huge - West Side from Battery Park to 14th Street West of Broadway - are being asked to conserve power with the new heat wave coming this week. It seems that power for that sector that was controlled by the blown-up transformer has to be coming from somewhere else for a few weeks while it is rebuilt. And they don't sound that confident about the somewhere else. If you didn't lose...

Re: Jo-Jo Baby - DollMaker
Which is pretty fitting, considering that Jojo's lively demeanor, colorful appearance and eye-catching art make him one of Chicago's most visual – and visible – personalities. Little known fact: as a child, Jojo wanted to be a priest. A stint at Quigley North Prepatorial Seminary deemed him "too theatrical" for the papacy. That's an understatement (although he did hone his hair sculpting skills for the stage – for artists Cinderella, Judas Priest, UB40, Guns and Roses and others). Jojo's...

That was the best Club 57! I did one of my very first "performance art pieces" there. I was in art school (School of Visual Arts) at the time. It was all choreographed to a disco drum beat with this drummer guy that I met in the park. September 15, 2003 Tell Us, Doctor, What Is It About Models? And Sarah's misguided determination to perservere as a mother, like a bargain basement Courtney Love. I mean, what value is there to dragging a little kid along on her shenanigans? It's one more mouth to feed, one more body to cloth and besides the kid seems to obstruct her objectives at every turn. It would be so much easier for her to give him up for adoption, or leave him with the foster parents or the grandparents. But she keeps slugging away. The park ranger turned and ran.
