burning man is fabulous. it can renew my faith in humanity. and as a "ritual junkie" i'm so into the neo-pagan/cyber-shamanic aspect of the whole effigy burning in the desert thang. (not to mention the mind-expanding psychedelics!!) i love looking out over "the playa" and fantasizing about a colony on the moon that would be just like Black Rock City. THOUSANDS of people all co-existing, all giving one another the freedom to create and live in their own realities, and LOTS OF ART!! it blows...

Well, it has taken weeks of thought on the issue to reach this decision, and it was tough, tough, tough...but after all the plans and arrangements, I've come to decide that I've simply got to attend Wigstock over Burning Man for the single and obvious reason: Burning Man will continue, Wigstock will not, and I've never been to Wigstock. I want/need that experience, end of story. However, Michael Alig at his height couldn't produce an event that could rival the boundless energy and creativity...

I'm still spinning from the 10,000 miles I must have traveled in the last 24 hours. So I thought I would try to express some of the strange visions in my head. After driving a van for 10 hours straight, through the desert, buzzing on double shots of espresso and listening to bad radio so as not to drive off the road and into the abyss of darkness, I finally arrived in LA at 3 am. Took a plane at 3 pm and now I'm back in NYC. I'm sure Goblin will have many posts soon, but I thought I would...

D3.12.1-3. flesh We were locked in an underground cavern. There was some sort of starlet leading our decent. She had long brown hair. Straight, silky, thick, red highlights and parted in the middle, it was very seventies -- it was very seductive. She would stop sometimes and turn to see if we were still following her. Then she'd giggle. I'd have been scared I think if I'd been alone. But, although I could see no one else, I felt the presence of others. It was like that 'watching' you feeling...

The Granddaddy of all horrible club fires occurred in Boston at the Coconut Grove in 1942, killing 492 people. The fire was started by someone simply lighting a match in order to screw in a lightbulb. Most of the victims died from smoke inhalation, though locked exits were a factor. If such a tragedy can be caused by a match, how could anyone even dream of pyrotechnics? I have always been opposed to them, and still am to this day. Though fire-eating can be safer and more easily contained, it...

I found this tidbit, from theBostonChannel.com interesting, and not reported anywhere else - http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/2009042/detail.html Also read that each burn pateint's hospital bill will be in the $400,000-500,000 range. So the $500 saved on the insulation yielded a $20 million hospital bill, among other heartache and tragic losses not even measurable, a huge hit to the club industry worldwide, and so much more.

Seven Thank you so much! Thank-you for taking the time and care to write it. Originally, we had worked out a deal to record in a professional studio one month ahead of the event for the CD however 1) sponsorship interest had dropped when we went to war. 2) In order to have done the CD in the studio the artists had to have their songs ready to go by March 1, March 15 at the latest. I needed a few days back before I could post. It was a little crazy journey back but it was an amazing journey over all. This year I learned about faith and the way the universe works for you when your on the correct path. Not a small lesson to learn. As for the Veuve story..... As I was sitting on the top of the bus in my best desert punk realness...... I was amazed with the burn even more that last year. Maybe because we were so close that my eyebrows were singed, but it was so beautiful.

Thanks for the dialogue! Roman a clef always has been with us. 'Liaisons Dangereuses' is a great example. That book was a total scandal and banned when it appeared. The author was forced to write a book on the Joys of Marriage or some such drivel to clear his name. (That book was NOT a best seller...) Thanks for posting the link, Randella. For all its hype about the new clubs opening, somehow this article was not very encouraging. The best thing about the article was reading how the local community board was -- for once -- powerless to stop all these clubs from opening. That's refreshing to hear, and more power to the new entrepreneurs who are trying to make a difference, forge ahead and reinvent the nightclubbing experience. David Rabin once again shows everyone what an asshole he is by...

What we know so far about the circumstances around his death. He was at Burning Man, which he looks forward to all year. He fell and hit his head, thought he was okay, then a few hours later went into a seizure and died. This is being looked into by the Reno police. I was just talking with Paula, the Swedish Housewife, about the logistics of that, a dead body at Burning Man. We agreed that Adam would want to go in The Burn at the climax.
