Re: NYC Expatriates Topic

Luxury Lex ·
The thought of being a NYC expatriate has crossed my mind many times as of late. I too was at the Winter Music Conference in March in sunny Miami, and I had some of the best club experiences I have EVER had in my life. Powerhouse DJs and clubgoers from the around the world brought back many fond memories for me of the NYC club scene in the late 80s when I first moved here. In particular at Miami's Club Space and Crow Bar, I was surrounded by a glamorous, friendly, diverse, international...

Around 3pm this afternoon, our cab whoosed by a hot young skinhead wearing a full-length black rubber jacket with all these pilgrim-esque metal buckles shining in the sun. Now THAT'S London, Sweetie. Thanks for the love and well-wishes, Mommy and Daddy. We wish you were here! ps-- Jersey Tomato looked GORGEOUS last night on the Graham Norton show in her spiked patent-leather boots and skirt. Total rock show, down to the stalker who jumped on stage in the middle of "Hanging on the Telephone" while Garrett and I were slam dancing around her.Security knocked him to the ground and we just kept slam dancing around them. They said in all 10 years of doing this night no one has ever done that(jumped on stage)...the power of Debravation. well, we are on our way back today. it will take us 24 hours to get home but boy do we have some stories for you. Hong Kong was totally insane. We have been so busy that I had no time to post. but we have met some of the most amazing charecters on the planet....I have finally had the "Blade Runner" fantasy I have dreamed about for years. Wait till you hear about the Hong Kong show! Bill Clinton and this water sweetie. We brought Jaiko and Viva to Hong Kong to perform with us because the venue was so huge. It was an enormous convention center built in the harbor, huge stage, 2 huge projection screens,lights....yadda yadda. The whole thing was so sick. We performed...

Was out last night at a renegade punk bar in Billyburg (i.e. Williamsburg, the Brooklyn art mecca) tossing back stale beer / listening to Sepulatura with a newly migrated New Yorker who came to us via London from Chicago. We were talking of the windy city and I mentioned you had joined the ArtMaker forum. And such a smile came across her face as she told me how...

Justice Jeremy Roberts also ordered Ant to pay $780 in compensation to a man who needed three stitches after being hit in the head by a car alternator that Ant flung through the window of the...

Definitely high on my list of genius American postwar songwriters, Warren Zevon succumbed to cancer on Sunday at age 56. Primarily a pianist, he idolized Stravinsky and Aaron Copeland. His best known songs include "Poor, Pitiful Me," and "The Werewolves Of London." Hard living and hard drinking, and often ignored by the music industry, he was also incredibly prolific and left an enormous catalogue of work, including the amazing, "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead." RIP, Warren.

I am only familiar with Warren Zevon's "Excitable Boy" album, which included "Werewolves of London," "Lawyers, Guns, and Money," and others. But today when I was thinking about him, I thought about another track from that album entitled "Veracruz." It is perhaps a testament to Zevon's adherance to truth and decency that he wrote and included this song about Woodrow Wilsons' naval bombardment, invasion and occupation of this Mexican city on the Gulf Coast, in which 200 Mexican civilians were...

The room was too hot, Daddy was having a great time, the Empress was in fine form, Jessica, Dirty Martini and Lavinia trooped hard, the crowd went bats for Debravation, but why did at least ten people ask me if I knew where to get some "pills"? London doesn`t seem to get the new burlesque, as fixated as the crowd was on the stage they forgot how to applaud. At least the drinks weren`t too overpriced and they did pour deep ones.

I have been waiting for this for months and months now...and I have my tickets! I am so excited. It's all too gay. Charles Busch rewrote the book for the show, and the relationship focus has changed from being about a straight couple amidst the fabulous freaks of London in the mid 80s to a gay relationship- so I am assuming from what I have read that the story will now focus on Boy's and Jon Moss' relationship, which should be eye-opening. Curiousity is killing the kitty as to how America...

I will say that the English are animals! Theiving magpies to be exact. They will mop ANYTHING that is not nailed down. Everytime I turned around there was a hand going through one of our bags or someone reaching over to steal Dirty Martini's feather fans from the DJ booth. (They did get one of her dresses). Then the hotel was kind enough to send over a really nice bottle of champaigne to the stage. But before we even got a chance to taste it some Theiving Limey Magpie had snuck up ON THE...

SOOOO glad that you enjoyed Blighty.... Daddy you were so spot on about us Brits... It's so funny cos I do always think the Brits are way ahead of stuff always... when it come to creative shit... i think its cos we have to be more resourceful... there isn't as much consumersism and disposable income so you have to improvise and 'make do' which i think leads to more inventive and sometimes more creative expression.
