Re: the drag queen & the mummy
. . . I love the easy drag looks that allow minimal make-up and flats: nun, school marm, and of course, librarian . . . right now, my hair is up in a bun, I am wearing a light dusting of powder, blue eye-shadow, and biege lip-liner, along with my high-powered magnifying-lens tortoise shell eyeglasses (hanging from a chain, of course) . . . Re: MySpace and Facebook (was "Myspace")
States Fault MySpace on Predator Issues By BRAD STONE Published: May 15, 2007 Some of the country's top law enforcement officials are charging that the online social network MySpace has discovered thousands of known sex offenders using its service, but has failed to act on the information. In a letter sent yesterday to a lawyer for MySpace, a division of the News Corporation, attorneys general from eight states said the company had not done enough to block sexual predators from the service...

Re: Election Day 2008 - Thoughts and Reports
*musQrat and i took a lovely walk to our polling place through our hilltop neighborhood. the weather in san francisco today - as in MUCH of the country - is GORGEOUS! and we arrived at our location, the garage of a homosexual neighbor, to find no line and friendly volunteers. in addition to the important presidential election we had a number of local and state issues to vote on... prop. 8 seeking to ban gay marriage, prop H for clean energy, prop. K to decriminalize prostitution. we went in...

Re: Queer SOS! and the American Equality Bill (ongoing)
October 26, 2010 President Barack H. Obama White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, DC 20500 Dear President Obama, Thank you for your service to our country these past two years. I recall the night of November 4, 2008 so clearly. Having voted early with my boyfriend in Manhattan, I opted to spend the winter with friends in northwestern New Mexico, and arrived by Amtrak the night before in Gallup, NM. My friends picked me up at the station, and drove me back, an hour by car, to the...

Re: Is New York over?
I'm of several minds on the question, "Is NYC over?" The first is, yeah, a big club filled with interesting people is a lotta fun. But where have all the interesting people gone? I simply don't think that NYC has as many of them today as it did once upon a time. The younger generation is fraught with so much store-bought cool, and while there are some bona fide geniuses on the rise, the volume of genuine creativity and verve seems to have dwindled dramatically since the 80s, replaced by an...

Re: Messy Courtney Love
Courtney and Mike Tyson sittin in a dumpster H-U-F-F-I-N-G. First comes incoherence, then comes fisticuffs, then comes subpoenas in a squad carrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ! I actually like her fierceness, and her out of control act is very self-conscious. I can take a certain amount of self-destruction when it is done as an art form like she do it. The best aspect is how no camera can really contain it, and that is what makes seeing her on teevee so gorgeous, kind of reminds me of Mick...

Re: East side West side Part dos...
So Sad... It looks like B&H Dairy, an East Village institution, is no more. The sign says that the space has been posessed by the landlord. I guess that means they were evicted. It was a lovely Lower East Side relic. I'll miss the split pea soup.
