I love it! I love it! I find this all so very fascinating. I loved April's post, especially her views on "gender expression". And on some weird level Bobby's need to assert his manhood in this room was just as valid. I have heard Bobby speak briefly about his time on hormones, and find it mind boggling that he always percieved himself as POSITIVELY male. I guess I can only speak from my experience. And thinking back when I felt my first pangs of womanhood, I certainly would not have...

It is a chronicle of those who fancy-danced in heels, glitter, and feathers before us. Furthermore, it is a fascinating to see such a different era- hippie communes, free love, lots of potent LSD (and certainly not the kind of stuff I had in high school a decade later), and a brief time when gender wasn't really an issue (or so it seemed in the movie). At the same time, the scenes from the opening night of their performance in NYC show how some things never change- air kisses, snatchy...

Was so touched watching the footage of her body in Miami yesterday, where 75,000 turned out to pay their respects. She was reportedly wearing a blonde wig and a white gown.. Tomorrow (Monday) she returns to NY where 100,000 are expected, and Tuesday is her funeral mass at St. Patrick's and burial. The Queen is Dead - Long Live The Queen!

What artist would not like to make a living doing what they love to do? I don't understand your contempt for those who are able to. If it makes you feel better, I do not believe that most of those painters are rich at this moment, but even if they were, this would not make them a bunch of whores. If they are now getting media attention and a place in history, that doesn't make them sell-outs. The Soho art scene was crowded then, and getting way too blue-chip and over-valued. Dearest S'tan, actually I am not in any trap at all. If a person loves something creative that they do, or anything else, they don't have to make a living off it. That is not an idealization either, it is a fact of being alive. And in the 'art world' making things rich collectors buy means you are making things that necessarily flatter the tastes and opinions of those collectors. That act has nothing to do with being a creative person, is the opposite of creative freedom -is actually a...
