Re: Can We Build a Less Prejudiced TG Sense of Community?
Ok- This is an amazing topic and I apoligize for not posting here earlier. I'd been out of sorts a while for personal reasons and am only now getting back into my Colleenisms! That being said I always feel better when I'm here and should just never leave. I started by reading from the begining and there was so much insightful, inspirational and passionate stuff here I thought my head was going to explode! I'll try to keep it short, but... First off Stacy, I can't imagine what it must have...

Re: BURNING MAN
I'm still spinning from the 10,000 miles I must have traveled in the last 24 hours. So I thought I would try to express some of the strange visions in my head. After driving a van for 10 hours straight, through the desert, buzzing on double shots of espresso and listening to bad radio so as not to drive off the road and into the abyss of darkness, I finally arrived in LA at 3 am. Took a plane at 3 pm and now I'm back in NYC. I'm sure Goblin will have many posts soon, but I thought I would...

Re: Miss Understood's Thailand 2003!
I don't know why I never bothered to before, but I finally bought a small knife so that I can buy fruit. If you only eat what is served ready-to-eat there are a whole range of interesting fruits you'd never eat. I had to go on the web to find out what some of them were. Like the Sapodilla . It tasted very sweet, as if it had been steeped in honey. I don't think I ever tased anything like it. Rambutans are similar to lychees. Pomelos are like mutant grapefruits (it's probably the other way,...

From "Pop Bitch"... "Celebrity surgery updateNow Botox and trout pouts have been adopted by suburbia celebrities have moved on to something far more flattering. Ever wondered how Kylie and Dannii got knife-sharp cheekbones in their 30s? Juvaderm,a synthetic collagen-like substance can be injected into the cheeks to give that perfect sculpted look. Another use for Juvaderm is to firm up ageing chins and jawlines. Now we think of it, Madonna's chin is suddenly looking very pointed and...

I'm trying to convince the actual, real Mack the Knife to attend but he keeps saying he's got another building to burn down. It is hard to press him while he's picking his teeth with a stilletto.

Re: Greece & Turkey: Athens, Istanbul, Mykonos, et al
Yeah, I agree. The air in Athens is pretty sleazy. You could cut it with a knife. I hope you can stand the air pollution there. I remember it being worse than LA on a bad day. But the boys and men more than make up for it.

1954! The Age Of McCarthyism! I was also reading the liner notes of the Blitzstein version, and they had to alter some of the lyrics that he translated. Another example of censorship, and I bet that they wouldn't have got played on the radio as much as they did. The "Mack the Knife" that was made popular through the like of Bobby Darin, Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald was Blitzstein's. I love Lenya too... and she also did Cabaret in the original cast, she played Fraulien Schnider! And there are...

Hey! Just wanted to mention that I played Mac the Knife (or Macheath in the original "Beggar's Opera") back in college. Not that it's a big deal. Just thought some of you might be interested. Heh-heh.

Re: Trip & Go NAked Otter Benefit!
For all of you who have enjoyed the NYC underground... Please consider a founding member - Otter. Without her I would never have had the gateway open enough for my knife piece etc.... She carved a unique path of erotic performance art that makes me look like a cream puff. To this day I still honor the freedoms her previous performance pieces allow me in this ever increasingly conservative town. I believe we all owe alot of the freedoms we have left as performers downtown to her. Please join...

This is one of my poems that is published and I just want to share it with you all. Screaming The crashing of glass being broken. The screams of anger. The crashing of words colliding. The screams of broken teeth. The crashing of fists slamming in the other opposite of me. The screaming of yourself in your head telling you to run away. Re: Puna
Goblin, I haven't found the resort you mentioned but the town nearest to where I'm staying is about twelve miles away and it is Pahoa. In the local dialect it translates as knife. Back in the days it got that name because cane field workers would go there on the weekend to get drunk and usually cause altercations featuring their cane knives. Quaint, no? Today, the sign on the one little main street through the village, which is a collection of about 30 small buildings slightly redolent of a...

Re: 9/11 unfolds on the Motherboards: Waiting for the End of The World
IIn the posting I left above I mentioned taking the high road, which in my opinion is the smar, crafty road. For Instance, I have a wonderful boy in my class who might as well be a muslim these days the way people treat him. I mean the way the other boys treat him is awful and I try to protect him as best I can, but I can't always be there. Secretly I gave him a knife and I told him the next time one of those boys gets near him he should "take home a little souvenir and maybe that boy will...

Re: Female Rockers....
I love Japanese femme rockers. They whine, growl, scream, screech and sing through their albums so charmingly. The Japanese language has a distinctive way of treating gender in lyrics so it's interesting listening to them, even in broken English. Some of my favorites are Shena Ringo (she's been compared to Bjork, Lauper and Stefani), Cocco, Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her, Youjeen, Shonen Knife, Bugy Craxone and Lisa Go. Just my two cents.
