In case there is any confusion right now about evacuating with pets: The usual ban on pets on the subway has been lifted during the evac - remember that all mass transit is shutting down at noon Saturday. If you have a carrier case/kennel for your pet, NYC emergency shelters have a separate area where pets in their carriers will be housed. Owners are responsible for walking and feeding them. So, please make sure you have access to your pet's carrier/kennel. I am looking for more information...

Yes, we do think about leaving, although the idea of leaving absolutely is scary too. There is some lovely decay still left, but not much. Where are the pawn shops? I remember when dogs were allowed everywhere, for instance, which is important for Pilar, to be allowed. There was a great dog from East 7th Street, who used to be all over the place on his own. His name was Hank. Does anyone remember him? He was coolness itself. Where are the cities which have both grime and grace?

I had always wondered why Linda refused to synch. Thank you, Vulgar, for setting the record straight. Perhaps she should have chosen another version of the song to do. Or something by Nancy. (Sinatra, not Isla, Rose.) Though I have to admit, my version of "A Time For Us", segue-ing from Barbra to Tom Waits went over a little better. Well, it has taken weeks of thought on the issue to reach this decision, and it was tough, tough, tough...but after all the plans and arrangements, I've come to decide that I've simply got to attend Wigstock over Burning Man for the single and obvious reason: Burning Man will continue, Wigstock will not, and I've never been to Wigstock. Daddy held for not having ID - appalling! I'm slightly surprised that this occurred in Miami, which apart from Key West is the only section of the state I've ever given a second thought to.
