Re: Does Anyone Remember SCISSORS or VHKB at Plaid??
Hi Sera- Yes, you're in the right place...Congrats on the book - that's quite an achievement. I'll tell Sammy Jo to check in here if he knows about the SS date or perhaps a Plaid devotee could answer.. I always think of you at Halloween now after we sent you to the parade for Taboo - remember?

Re: Fashion, Sweetie
I hear from DJ Sammy Jo that Paris has been celebrating her birthday at SEVERAL parties including Las Vegas, LA 4 in New York alone. But the best is that they had a party in Tokyo and she wasn't even there, supposedly the Hilton sisters are now some kind of new obsession with the Japanese, (Otaku?)

Re: Displaced Radical Faeries
There's so much to share, which will come in time, but a quick note on DJ Sammy Jo planting seeds for a Universal harvest-- who knew he was such a skilled gardener: Pickles managed to filter "Edge of Seventeen" through his speakers in the very early morning hours, perhaps precisely one week before The Battle of A Thousand Stevies. That moment still pulses through me as I prepare for Friday night. He and Rob electronically channeled so many of our faerie friends into that party-- we welcomed...

Jo-Jo, a beautiful statement, and very insightful. I think that sentiment akin to the etiology (cause of a condition) that links all artists together ... something to do with needs and communication anyway. But why dolls? Why not another medium? I know Greer was a great influence, (I have been reading that topic, so intense, it weighs now in the back of my mind.) but was there anything else? We will have to get you and Madame Dollhaus in touch some day. You will love the dollhaus. It's...

I had the craziest dream about you last night Barbara Jean. I just figured out why. I was walking by your doorway yesterday and of course I wanted to bang on the window to see if you would pop your head out. (I didn't though don't worry). But last night I had this dream... I was talking to Sammy Jo. He and I were going camping. (Don't ask, it was a dream) We were of course talking about the latest records and I said, "Wait till you hear Bobby Miller's new record. He did a re-make of "French...

So glad that everyone loves this as much as I do. As for Alure, I got my copy at Barnes and Noble shortly after it came out. I remember frothing at the mouth with randella when we heard it was out. As much as I love Bergie's, I am not aware they do a mark up THAT terrible. I buy almost all of my cosmetics at Bergies as they always have everything I need from YSL, Shu Umura and all the other cuntier lines. I also adore their Jo Malone department. How very DV, that discussion of her book led into much ado about fragrances. Sweetie, you and I have had many a discussion about the fabulousness that she was, and of course, credit to where credit is due, but I would have never heard of that book were it not for the esoteric musings of Matthew Kasten. I too have never been a fan of Angel or any of those "harder" pungent smelling ones, but I am now a Jo Malone convert, and her yummy light fragrances are now available to us downtown residents...

Hey Jo Jo, Great News! I love the concept. A few years ago Chi Chi and I were just taking a romantic little stroll around Marie Lavoe's grave. I had my camera and snapped a picture of her crypt. When I got the picture back (pre-digital) we were stunned. It was a picture of her grave but the sky was insane. It was all purple clouds and spooky. I swear it didn't look like that in real life. And the other pictures I took there that day didn't have it either, only her grave. Very strange. You...

Re: Grey Gardens At Irving Plaza
OK, I'll try. "Grey Gardens" was basically Hattie Hathaway (Hatches) and my thing. Hattie thought of the name (Hattie also named "Mother" BTW, it came to her in a wet dream about Jimi Hendrix but that's another story) It was every Saturday night at Irving Plaza, after the rock shows ended. The Irving Plaza staff (who were incredible) cleared out the drunk college kids faster than one of Messy Bonnie's farts. And in about 20 minutes we (about 15 people) transformed the theater into this eery,...

That is really cool Jo Jo that you were the only student of Greer Lankton. I love the art that I have seen at the matress factory. You are so right to care for her art and take good care of it. And you really have a big heart give the niece the dress to wear in her wedding. That is very kind. I bet Greer would be happy about it too. Just make sure she wears it and doesn't cut it! Re: Greer Lankton
Actually, Jo Jo, I think that is a very fair solution. Cloey – would you consider leaving muffin and sissy with Jo Jo while you borrow the dress? This way you can use the dress, and Jo Jo can spend some time appreciating these dolls that mean as much to him - obviously as much to him as the dress means to you? If the dress is returned in the same condition as it left, I am sure Jo Jo would return the dolls. And if you need to alter the dress for your wedding, then you should keep the dress...
