burning man is fabulous. it can renew my faith in humanity. and as a "ritual junkie" i'm so into the neo-pagan/cyber-shamanic aspect of the whole effigy burning in the desert thang. (not to mention the mind-expanding psychedelics!!) i love looking out over "the playa" and fantasizing about a colony on the moon that would be just like Black Rock City. When I was 13, my mother and father took a day trip to Ohio to see my uncle and my brother closest to me in age was suppose to keep an eye on me while they were away. He did a really good job by getting me totally stoned. Later in the evening he had his girlfriend named Andrea come over, and they went downstairs in our family room where my brothers best friend Chris and I could hear her getting the life fucked out of her from where we were upstairs in the livingroom. Well, I finally caught some dirt on Monks. I'm in Chiang Mai, the second largest city, much cleaner than Bangkok, in the North of Thailand. Fifteen minutes one way you're in farm country. Fifteen minutes the other way your in the mountains. I hooked up with this really sweet guy who's been driving me all around on his motorcycle. So he was a temporary monk for much longer than normal because he was orphaned at 9. His uncle was a monk so he went to live with them. I asked if they got nasty in...

Nick Rhodes, meanwhile, has been collaborating with original Duran singer Stephen Duffy. They've been re-recording some early Duran Duran demos they made together. Against some of my better judgement, I'm going to throw this out about part of my experience(s) with Glorya, though I restrained myself from getting involved in the mudslinging in another forum (despite wanting very much to join in). The first time I worked for Glorya was at one of her Pyramid Club Parties back in 1995. I danced on the bar in heels, panties and bustier all night long. At the end of the night, she said that the party didn't make enough money and none of the dancers would get...

Seriously, I think if you approached them as "Steve" with a Lisa Jackson flyer, like you would almost anyone on the street, and mentioned to them that you had seen them out, thought they seemed interesting and wanted them to hear your music, that you thought it might "speak" to them. It might all fit together. I do think however you being afraid of BLOWING someone elses cover is silly. Thats a real Cinderella complex. Big tits,...

A bit of explanation... Mark Twain is said to have once wrote: "When the end of the world comes, I want to be in Cincinnati because it's always 20 years behind the times." This still holds true. We were asked to host a night at a local gay club here in Cincinnati about a year after Zazoo was "born." we agreed, but only on our terms... What did this mean? Well... 1. Good music. 2. No crappy Drag Queens badly lipsyching to 3 year-old songs. 3. "Freaks" got in free They reluctantly agreed to...

Congratulations Flloyd and Blacklips for completion of a work well done...though I did have to cover my eyes during the fork scene- a bit raw for this nurse. So lovely though to see such performances preserved on celluloid, and such a conglomeration of characters from the past...and seeing it took me back to the days of Blacklips and Jackie. Gorgeous!

This is one topic where I find a lot of girls I know HATE her. I find it really interesting. I usually don't notice things like this (gender) but it's the intensity of the hatred that always astounds me. I don't find many boys who feel that way. I'm not a huge fan, I don't own any of her CD's but I do like some of her work. I also have a soft spot for her since I had to lip sync her "Smells Like Teen Spirit" cover in the "Kurt, Courtney and Jackie" play at Jackie 60 years ago.

I dunno, I think Hours, while rather sedate, is by far the superior album on a whole by comparison to Reality. Of course you know that Cactus, featured above, was a cover song, written and originally recorded by Frank Black of the Pixies. Pablo Picasso is also a cover, I believe of Jonathan Richmond. Amateurs borrow, professionals steal, but Bowie...appropriates.
