Re: I'm from normal parents (The Pyramid Club Topic)
Oh, Billy, I had NO idea there were pictures! I recall a tiny tea cart that we bought for $10 and used for "beverage service" and the barf bags... I also remember endless interruptions of the disco music with safety instructions ("Two in the front, two over the wings, and two in the back" and "In the unlikely event of a water landing...") Also, wasn't the next month's theme "News 101" with you as the Asian anchorwoman with your eyes taped?

Dressy: I've got a huge book, two vids and scads of pictures on the subject if you're interested. Seems like a great excuse to spend time with your lovely acerbic self again anyway... Yeah, RV's are expensive, the Goblin's right about that, but they're so very worth it. Domes are dead essential too. My crew always has three or four of each and lots of supporting smaller structures. BTW - Gob, we used to be the notorious Fleshlab, but this it's the "Black Rock City Tours" camp, check them out...

Gosh how i miss her. I used to stop in and visit her at her loft and have tea and smoke pot and laugh. She was a true genius. What a great face and a great laugh. She must trully reside in the artist section of Heaven. Greer was a great soul, I miss her. A Legend.i

Re: Can We Build a Less Prejudiced TG Sense of Community?
Myself I don't care for labels since they suggest a digital (e.g. binary!) world. Humans are so analog (continuous and varying). "I would really like to know if you feel we could FOSTER GENUINE SUPPORT for ANY PERSON has had been made to feel different or ashamed or scared about who they are in terms of gender. " After reading the whipping post in the tea room targeted towards Gloria Wholesome I have my doubts. In fact I have received the most support from Gloria! She has been an advocate of...

Re: Jo-Jo Baby - DollMaker
Jo-Jo, a beautiful statement, and very insightful. I think that sentiment akin to the etiology (cause of a condition) that links all artists together ... something to do with needs and communication anyway. But why dolls? Why not another medium? I know Greer was a great influence, (I have been reading that topic, so intense, it weighs now in the back of my mind.) but was there anything else? We will have to get you and Madame Dollhaus in touch some day. You will love the dollhaus. It's...

Bobby, Hi hons. It is nice to know you are getting some more fats on ya! Did you know fat makes estrogen? That's why ladies of a certain age get their little storage pudge: to make some extra for the long haul through the big M. You can't wig out yet and miss that ride. Sheee-it. I tried to go out today and it was yes, like Antarctica. I was shocked to see Balducci's is boarded up! Well last time I went there I couldn't even find my apricot tea. The new owners botched it, I guess. Can you...

This topic has moved me no end, and since Greer was first and foremost an ArtMaker, I have moved her topic here from NYC Girls. She could have gone so many places - Hopelessly Devoted for one - but it is her work that lives on, and her descendants, many of whom are here! I was mentioning this phenomenon to several people lately - that "Greer's Kids" (Z&S, JoJo Baby, Gigi etc.) should be here. One was the Mboards own mister e, who is a master archivist and historian. He dug up these...

Re: Miss Understood's Thailand 2003!
I just got my 10th massage in 6 weeks. I think all 10 add up to the price of 1 in NY! Thai massages are rough, but they make my back feel alright again. I got one in Vietnam that was a bit different. She did a lot with her feet, walking on my back and the back of my legs. I guess fat people don't give massages. Well, the 6 fat people in Vietnam will manage to find other occupations. Maybe it IS the diet in Asia, but I'm skeptical. Thang is over 30 and packs away beer like a German truck...

I had posted this in the Tea Room, but thought it was worth repeating here: ------------- Satori - Middle School, theme - "Dress as your favorite pop star(s)." Since I wasn't going to pull off "Midnight Star" I wore my mom's silk oriental shirt with big baggy tuxedo pants and a big bright hat with a bunch of colored beads hanging off the brim. Boy George was one of my biggest heroes as a teen. As a child I had already seen Elton John, Alice Cooper, David Bowie, KISS and so on, but Boy George was My Generation and hit the scene as a huge star when I was in high school. I was so captivated, it was like he had beat all the odds and was being celebrated for being a freak. Of course his whole androgyny slant was a huge inspiration to me as an artist. But he was not just an image. He had real talent, and the band had serious musical...

It's not a scam, just capitalism's supply and demand in motion. Unprocessed food like brown rice always cost more even though it should be cheaper to produce. If people would just eat better healthy food would be cheaper. People are easily fooled by marketing. They think Snapple is healthy because of marketing campaigns. It's not much different from Kool Aid. When I was a kid the "healthy" drink was Hi C because it was sugar water with a teaspoon of "REAL JUICE!". Now we have sugar water...

I must admit that DD's coffee is surprisingly good for a fast food joint. Who knew? And Missy, things like "instant" iced tea are concepts I just don't get. And bottled salad dressing. Salad dressing takes 15 seconds to make from scratch. 2 seconds more than it takes to unscrew the Wishbone's cap off. That's convenient?

This thread is not about the EV Art scene. It was trying to reflect on those aspects of New York we have seen depart: Farewell Charming Old New York. The time: 1973. The place: NYC. I had just moved there and was doing hair on 57th street at a tony salon. The art director came over to me asking if I would go to The Carlyle Hotel to do a hair styling for a customer of his because he couldn't go. I went. I was met at the door to the penthouse by a frumpy old maid who brought me into the main parlour to set up my curling iron and wait for " madame".
