Second cup of coffee, with flecks of glitter, and basking in the joyous and Magickal 19th edition last night at the Highline Ballroom. After last year we were worried that we couldnt top some of the incredible NOTS 18 moments on our new big stage, but the performers and audience helped to erase those fears and bring it up even higher.

It was the first night of MORE than 1000 Stevies in attendance, but with the greatest crowd, no incidents whatsoever. Never made it up there but heard that the balcony was a total blast! To every attendee in our most costumed crowd EVER, your obvious love and joy at being there uplifts us, and we can never thank you enough..

Everyone has their favorite performances, and certainly Jock Soto's opening Rhiannon number with Delirium and the Boys and Sweetie's Act Two reprise, Adam Joseph and company on Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You, Mia and Adam's Landslide (wow!), Poison Eve's Sisters of the Moon wytches ballet, Jazmen Flowers' stunning Beauty and the Beast and Bella Luna's new definition of twirling were among mine. SO many great moments on that stage, wonderful debuts (Corey Tut and Patty Bruce, Lady Zombie et al..) and as always - inspired go-go from every one of our seven dancers.

To our Enchanted DJS and crew - Dany Johnson running the musical end, new crew members Dale and Seven, Enchantress Cynthia keeping the door flawlessly flowing, Torin ruling the dressing room, NOTS decor angels Pablo Maine and Muffinhead, and the whole staff of Highline - who were so first-rate - deepest thanks.

As always, we'd love to hear your thoughts and please, POST YOUR PICTURES HERE! For one month any registered member can post their NOTS 19 pictures in this topic - please share your favorites, and try not to post enormous images that stretch out the page too much. Pics must each be 300k or less in size or they wont post..

Thank you and we havent stopped twirling yet!

I have been wanting to go to NOTS ever since I was 13 (12 years ago) and I finally made it!!

It was one of the most magical moments of my life...I got there when the doors opened and stayed until they threw all us all out. Thank you to all the amazing performers and producers of the show...I feel like a changed woman and I will definitely be back next year.

I did take some photos but they don't really do the show justice, I'm really not an expert photographer...I'll post some though and feel free to steal them if you so desire.

I wasn't disappointed.
He nailed it like nobody ever has IMHO.

And also dear folks -

PLEASE stop posting photos (or links to photos) so wide that they extend our page past a laptop size. This makes it really difficult for everyone to see the pictures that are posted that are a reasonable size...

And, we so appreciate your enthusiasm, but also if there are already 6 really good pictures of a performer posted, and you have a blurry or mediocre shot of that person, please dont share it here...
Please people...
Just post the best of your pics.
If someone is not lookin' pretty in the pic or if it's a shot of Billy O's right eye, or one of the dancer's left...
well, you know what I mean...
Don't post it on the Motherboards!
Don't post 10 pictures of the same thing.
Pick one or two of the best.
And don't make them really huge.
They will just mess up the whole topic and people will not bother to look at them.
Just got back to Vegas and I am still in awe of this years NOTS. Chi Chi- I wish I was able to get to talk to you this year- I remember talking to you after the battle but it was so loud....I think you looked enchanting as always!
It was allot of fun to share a NOTS experience with my husband as a performer this year and I appreciate who ever posted the pic of me kissing him on the cheek- thank you for that!
I only wish Bella Donna, The Ho Ho's and Lizzie Davis could have been here this year. Seems like a different show with out them. BTW-Anyone have word about any you tube postings yet? Well at least "The feeling remains even after the glitter fades"

and..

Amber, it was great to have you back this year. It was our first time in a decade without the Ho-Hos and Bella, but Lizzie has been missing for a few years now so that felt less odd.

I ALWAYS marvel that Bella made it from California every year for fifteen years, and Jill of the Ho-Hos from Austin for so many.

On the positive side, it is MEANT to seem like a different show every year, otherwise the fans would have long been tired of us...Not a bad thing, no matter how much we missed individual people or acts. And those debuts!
I was extremely happy with the show and ecstatic over the performers and crowd this year.
As far as the show went, the Highline has entered the 21st Century with digital, computerized audio tech... and we went along for a major ride! This makes for really exact EQ-ing and, in short, better sound. After a bit of a rocky start, we managed to co-ordinate our onstage technical changes with the soundboard, and it was amazing. If you were in the audience, you got a state of the art show. And the performers were all sooo on point!
But the audience has got to be my favorite NOTS audience to date-- so many smiles, so much good energy and dancing. So much... green!
This is why we have done NOTS for 19 years!

Oh, and I believe that is Darrell Pixie Harlot in the green, Missy.

Last but not least I will leave you with this poem/song by Stevie that really sums up the night for me and is one of the Songs Of Rhiannon.

Stay Away

The birds of Rhiannon sing away the pain...
Take away the darkness...
And sing you golden rainbows...
Just this minute the three birds are flying
In perfect formation...
The emerald, the gold and the snow white...
Because they have lived forever...

Down the forest pathway came the birds...
Singing their songs again...
He who wrote the sunshine...
And the skies full of gold...
The music filled the air and everything was fine...
Whatever happens to each one of us...
Will a wish be an answer...
You are and everything is fine...

If you listen carefully...
You just might hear the song of Rhiannon...
The birds are singing for us...
I can just hear them now...

As Hatches pointed out to me, there were only 2 acts lipsynching this year, a complete swing over from the early days, but the crowd was definitely thirsty for Sweetie's traditional approach by the time she hit.

I don't know which is more fun, being in the crowd with no responsibility and getting whacked by the acts, or working the stage props, etc. and zooming on the backstage energy. A mark of how great and successful this show is is apparent when all the house staff are cheerful and amazed at the crowd -you NEVER get that from the house at the usual music gig.

The Goon Squad made it feel like CBGB's. And its always amazing to see J60 veterans still leading the enjoyment factor.

Empress and Daddy, you fucking geniuses.

So true Chi Chi- the debuts where out of this world this year! I hope they all come back for next year- I especially loved Bella Luna & Delerium.
I was also blown away by the audiance! I am so happy to see that people were into it- so many came dressed up and they looked fabulous!
Thank you again Hattie, Chi Chi, Johnny and the many wonderful crew members that bring us all together year after year and I think the crew gets better and better with every year! What a smooth show! Hattie-the sound quality was worth all the effort you & the crew put into it. Best yet!
It was the danciest (among other things) crowd I've ever seen at NOTS. Such beautiful energy. I love NOTS because for all the heartfelt and sometimes tearful moments onstage there are so many smiles and guffaws happening as well. My favorite night of the year by far. Thanks to all who make it happen. Can't wait to turn 20 with ya!

XO
And can we talk for a second about the balcony?

Last year people kept telling me that the balcony was the hottest spot but I was running around so much that by the time I got up there it was over.
This year however, I made a point to visit our neighbors to the north.
OMG!
What a scene!
It's like the balcony is it's own club, it's own party.
I went up during Sammy Jo's set and people were going nuts! Dancing everywhere. I was in awe. I went up a bunch of times and it was always a scene.

Sorry, I couldn't resist...it's Billy O's LEFT eye

Note from your mods: As noted above, ENORMOUSLY WIDE images will be deleted, as this one has. Funny joke, but when it slows down 1,000 people trying to look through all these images, not so funny.
