You will gag Minerva but I was there when that picture was taken. It was at the Victoria's Secret fashion show. I was DJing. Before the show I went out into the lobby to call my wife. I looked next to me and at the very next phone was a 3 1/2 foot Gary Coleman in a blonde wig! I was trying to tell Chi Chi quietly, "You won't believe this..." Even better than the wig though were the shoes. They were these really ugly old lady pumps with about a 2 inch heel. The best thing was that they were...

So the caves were shallow, no big deal. But then I went on this loooong walk up to a mountaintop shrine. It was all steps...2200 steps! It was exhausting but the view was breathtaking. There were lots of monks meandering around. I was dying to suck one off! Let me explain. Thailand is swarming with monks, usually dressed in these orange or mustard robes. Most men, sometime after high school, become a monk for a few months to a year, as a learning and spiritual experience. They are not...

I think around '81 Club 57 started hosting parties at Irving Plaza. A Ukrainian sponsor/host (Stanley?) would dare the punks to throw beer cans and bottles at him on stage. (They obliged.) I remember the Invaders and Regina and the Red Hots. Whatever happened to Regina Richards? Did Chris Spedding and the B-52s also play here, or was that later in the life of Irving Plaza? Wow--just zoned on Nervus Rex--what about Lauren Agnelli? Where are all the NY Rock babes of yore? cheers to my NYC...

No! A dancefloor is everybody's always!!! And I did love watching it--you two running off!! You couldn't pay people to look so jarred!! And the faux pas is mine. The theory was to make an interactive imprmptu video. The problem (well technically there were several glitches) but the biggest being -- the music is not yet appropriate for the dance floor, perhaps even to ears. If it was, people wouldn't have been so confused. But I got through it and had to laugh myself at the mockery I made.

It's funny, when I started this topic almost a year ago, I didn't even know that there was already a marketing term for these up-and-coming electronic based groups...(Electroclash) Now a lot of magazines are already calling it "Dead." Well it may be old news in NYC, but it's catching on BIG in LA and London, and Chicago is starting to have bi-monthlies... And no one is doing nights at all in the smaller towns in the Midwest...So I'd guess it will hit before the end of the year here. (We're...

More history on the Oak Room in the Plaza, due to close at the end of January. The Ballroom (where Truman Capote's famous Black & White ball took place) is also slated for "retail..." http://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/16/opinion/opinionspecial/16gathje.html The writer thinks these spaces can still be saved.

Grey Gardens at Irving Plaza!!! Oh my goodnes gracious!!! My heart has gone a twitter and I'm getting flashbacks.... I have to honestly say Grey Gardens at Irving Plaza was one of the best parties I've ever been to!! It was so inspiring, I truly felt transported when I entered the room. I wish my brain cells weren't so fried, and I could remember more. But Grey Gardens at Irving Plaza...a truly magical moment in nightclub history!! OMG...I'm getting emotional.

OK, I'll try. "Grey Gardens" was basically Hattie Hathaway (Hatches) and my thing. Hattie thought of the name (Hattie also named "Mother" BTW, it came to her in a wet dream about Jimi Hendrix but that's another story) It was every Saturday night at Irving Plaza, after the rock shows ended. The Irving Plaza staff (who were incredible) cleared out the drunk college kids faster than one of Messy Bonnie's farts. And in about 20 minutes we (about 15 people) transformed the theater into this eery,...

A funny thing about the Old City. In El Centro, which is still encircled by the original fortified wall built about 400 years ago, there are thousands of cops. Almost every single street has a cop. And every public square, of which there are many, has at least two cops. But outside the wall, across the plaza, in the other section of the Old City that is named after the place where Jesus was betrayed, you will find zero cops on the street. So it really is kind of the 'dangerous garden' where...
