Hey Bobby, Don't know what our summer is like yet. We have so many things up in the air right now but we really want to get there sometime in June. Captain Jack's of course. Gennaro is torturing. He wants more landscaping around his grave. He is no longer satisfied with the flower treatment. He now wants trees & shrubs! So if you see him at "Bar Rush" tell him I'm on it. Legendary birthday by the way. Everyone is still talking about it. AND LOOK OUT! Last night at Cheezwhiz Miss...

Daddy-D: I promise not to dreg up emotions too often. And someday, you and Chi Chi will have to let me write a bit about your early exploits. This is something I look forward to. You know, one of the first conversations I had with Rose, maybe about four years ago, was about whether or not I could come in to Mother early one night just to interview her. She seemed to me to have stories untold of amazing interest (however since there was no place to publish such tales) I did not pursue the...

Re: I'm from normal parents (The Pyramid Club Topic)
I first discovered Pyramid in late '87. My very first night happened to be a big benefit show, I think for Dee's teeth. Yeah, I know she didn't quite get them for a while, but that's another story. It was one of those super shows with a zillion acts! I was dazzled! In '87 the pyramid was all painted in crazy black and white trippy swirls, the shows were wild, and I was sold! It broke my heart when they painted it black. I became a regular at Hapi's party. It's what inspired me to do drag. I...

From: uravampire@mindspring.com Subject: [queerleft] Fwd: Harry Hay obituary - New York Times Is there going to be a NYC (or in other cities) memorial for Harry Hay, and more than mourning, as doing what Harry Hay had often done, which way forward for the queer movement? In May 2003 there will be a gathering of queer lefties in NYC at the Brecht Forum, to put the issue of queer liberation back in the heart of the socialist/anarchist/left movments and reconnect the queer community to the...

Re: 57 Varieties ( Club 57 Remembered)
That was the best Club 57! I did one of my very first "performance art pieces" there. I was in art school (School of Visual Arts) at the time. I hooked up two big BORROWED tv sets to all of this electronic equipment that Laurie Anderson loaned me (God bless her). It was all choreographed to a disco drum beat with this drummer guy that I met in the park. He now has gone on to drum with hundreds of DJs in hundreds of clubs but believe me, that was the first time. He really didn't understand my...

Get on the party bus (it's a metaphor, girl) for those events you want to go to and skip the ones you think are boring. There's no fee to register. There's no organization to join, there's no conference to attend (this ain't Southern Comfort, it's a vacation). We plan this every year because we like hanging out together...

Gay men are marrying gay men and lesbians are marrying lesbians in San Francisco. Gay couples in Massachusetts will have the right to marry in a few short months. The mayor of Chicago has spoken out loudly in favor of same-sex marriage. WHERE IS THE MAYOR OF THE CITY WITH THE LARGEST GAY AND LESBIAN COMMUNITY IN THE COUNTRY ON THIS ISSUE? And the battle comes at last to our soil. I've always liked politicians like Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein and Barney Frank, but they've been in office for years and we've seen little action. Now they look like tired old buffalos next to the handful of mavericks like Mayor Newsome, Mayor Daley and New Paltz, New York's mayor, Jason West, who boldly go where no one has gone before. Rock on!

No, the Anvil and the Toilet and trannie hookers were there before Jackie. And the meat packers. And gay guys cruising Wash. Street and adjourning to have sex in the parked & unlocked trucks. "The Trucks" was code for sex outdoors over there. not to mention the abandoned piers that were sex circuses all night every night. Last but not least, there were the go-go luncheonettes where you could dance at high noon on the luncheonette counter to the meat packers packing in their meat...
