The new clubs reported to be gearing up in Chelsea are more a reaction of opportunism. Although I am sure some backers and producers are really inspired and want to bring the city back to life partywise. The club going in to the old Twilo space, which is supposedly going to be called Spirit, would be the most different concept being put to the test, is actually a franchise from its Irish flagship, and if you ask me its ammenities ( a raw food restaurant, a resident dance company ) are a kind...

American radio is shit anyways, unless you have XM Radio or some equivalent thereof. Also too many DJs (not the Soulwax guys)play one type of music and one type of music only. Unfortunately I wasn't there at the Garage (born in the wrong decade I guess!) By the way those 2 many Djs discs are mad! Talk about types of music that don't go together! I mean mad in a good way. New Order and the Clash are punk and they aren't. the Clash became more mainstream as they dragged on and New Order was...

Kersh just sent me this... its to appear in the British press (independent I think...) 'He was the most important person in British music since the birth of rock 'n' roll' By Andy Kershaw It was like I had been hit by a hammer. Jenny Abramsky, the BBC's controller of network radio, called me and said: "I've got some bad news for you, and I think you ought to sit down." As soon as she said that, my mind just raced and in a flash, before she had said it, I thought "Peel's dead". John had died...

Been hunting around the interweb for radio to break the monotony of having to work this week, and found a station that I'm really loving called DayGlo Radio. It's all 80s, but great selections - not just the standard "Boys Don't Cry" variety, either (though there is a fair amount of that, and Duran Duran, Clash, Smiths, etc). Lots of Siouxsie, too! Reggae (the deep dub stuff) was VERY influential back then. It was the first thing that brought the worlds of "Disco/Club" and "Punk/Rock" together. For example... I came out of the whole Downtown, CBGB, Punk, No Wave, Art Rock thing. But I used to go to Discos like The Paradise Garage etc. and these were always two totally different worlds. UNTIL Dub Reggae. I was DJing at Danceteria by then and for the first time the 2 worlds came together musically. The sound was deep, dark, druggy &...

ok, well I'm not to busy so Darla let's take just of few of your hyperbolic assertions and look at the truth. Obama is not a Socialist. Socialism is an economic system in which the means of production and distribution are controlled by the state. He is a liberal capitalist who is willing to use government to help soften some of the harsher effects of capitalism. Any true Marxist would be appalled at the health care reform bill which simply gives middle class people TAX CREDITS to purchase...

"Socialism is communism lite, and Stalin is who you eventually end up with. " that's quite a statement and one that clearly betrays a complete lack of understanding of history. Sweeden, the UK, France, Germany, and most of Western Europe have vibrant democratic systems and socialized medicine as well as generous public systems for over 60 years and not one of the countries has come anywhere close to Stalinism or anything resembling the Leninist type of Socialism that has been discredited for...

I know the Thatcher quote. I know most of the quotes you keep putting up as evidence of what I'm not sure. Thatcher was despised when she left office, thrown out by her own party. She never once won close to a majority of the popular vote in the UK. You made two assertions you cannot back up. One, that Obama is recycling a 150 year old failed philosophy (Marxism I presume since the manifesto was published in 1848). And that all socialist systems degenerate into Stalinism. You can't answer...
