The emergence of Dusseldorf’s Alex Niggemann was kick-started by an apprenticeship with DJ T at the world-renowned Get Physical label, who recognized the young DJ’s passion and skill and gave him a shot to remix Booka Shade’s “Darko” in 2006. The young Niggeman had devoted most of his teens to mastering techno after studying classical piano as a hip-hop loving child. This would eventually form the basis of his production and selection, which ranges from dark, to melodic, to ambient to abstract, all based around a tight house beat. It’s a style that has yielded a steady streaming of glorious EPs and singles, while earning him DJ slots everywhere from Sao Paulo to St. Petersburg.
The perpetually industrious Niggemmann has also enjoyed success as a labelhead, first in 2010 with Soulfooled, alongside Superlounge and Marc Poppcke, and in 2013 when he formed his own AEON imprint. Its roster includes Andrea Di Rocco, Echonomist, Qbeck, and is behind the Summer 2015 release of Niggemann’s EP Stellar, which XLR8R says, “bears all the hallmarks of an artist who is at the top of his game.”
Alex Niggemann will be putting down one of his unpredictable sets on Friday, March 18 alongside Tal Ohana, who possesses an instinctual talent for deep house. Get ready for a epic night!
