SULLIVAN ROOM FAMILY REUNION

New York, NY - Saturday, August 2nd, 2014 – The 1st Official Sullivan Room Family Reunion!

Sully featured some of the best NYC local DJs as well as DJs who are now internationally known and recognized before they were known and recognized. It created a perception of what Electronic Dance Music is before the term EDM was ever coined. The New York underground club scene and the club scene has taken on many layers and personas throughout the past 12 years but very few have been able to stay afloat and stay true to the image that the founding fathers originally worked so hard to portray. From the gatekeeper AK who always welcomed each and every one through the freight doors to the staff at the bar who always made sure you didn’t wait more than 10 minutes for a drink, Sullivan Room always managed to be a no frills experience creating an atmosphere where everyone is welcome and shares the love for the music.

"Sully filled a void in New York nightlife, the era of big clubs came to an end under Giuliani. Twilo, Soundfactory, Limelight and Roxy had all been closed. Sully came and flew the flag for the underground and ushered in a new generation of promoters, I’m glad to have been the 1st to knock on Serge’s door. It was a wild 3 years for me, I’m proud to have been a part of the history of Sullivan Room which has enriched NYC." | Jason Swamy – Robot Heart

Over the years some very recognizable names called Sully a second home and graced the decks once or twice or many times such as Adam Beyer, Ben Sims, Carl Craig, Christian Smith, Danny Howells, Deetron, Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Green Velvet, Jeff Mills, Joel Mull, Joris Voorn, Josh Wink, Kaskade, Loco Dice, Nic Fanciulli, Richie Hawtin, Speedy J, The Martinez Brothers, The Scumfrog, and countless others. Making it known throughout the world to be a venue that is the epitome of House & Techno music.

On November 13th, 2013 Sullivan Room was forced to close its doors for good due to unfortunate circumstances set forth by the landlord and the City of New York. Although the physical space and venue itself is no longer in operation, the legacy and memories will forever live on. The careers that Sullivan Room has harnessed and helped bloom into extraordinary proportions, the culture and community that it has assisted in creating, and the music that has touched each and every patron’s souls will forever live on.

Sullivan Room’s co-owner Sergei Sklyarenko aka Serge and brand manager Gene aka Meandisco recently created a label this past year to celebrate the music and legacy of Sullivan Room by the obvious name of Sullivan Room Records that will allow Sullivan Room to continue to live on through the music and feature past artists who were once residents and maestros at Sullivan Room. Sullivan Room will be missed as a premier destination to let loose and experience great music.
