caught their show last night at the Garden. They were pretty incredible. Martin and Dave were totally selling it, and thoroughly enjoying themselves. 2 encores - including 'Everything Counts' and "Somebody". It was gorgeous and really got rocking through the second half of the set. Ive been listening to their new record a lot on internet radio (KCRW and RadioParadise.com) where they've been getting a lot of play. Inded the first half of the show was all about the new album. Of course there were some songs missing - no 'Shake the Disease' for example - but when they did 'behind the wheel' and 'personal jesus' - the crowd was thoroughly warm and going just about anywhere they wanted to take us. The show was 2 hours - but seemed unblelievable short.. I was rocked.
What would an 80s group be without gigantic telescreens!? There were six - used with aplomb.. That said, I would have preferred to see them at a smaller venue. And I didnt like how the keyboardists were hidden behind giant spaceship set pieces -- ah well, when my services as a big time 'paula abdul' style choreographer and designer is required - Ill let them know...
They are in town one more night - if you're a fan - its totally worth it.
