One of the world’s most famous fairy tales takes a sexy and campy gay twist in THE EMPEROR'S NEW CODPIECE, the latest offering by drag-queen playwright LINDA SIMPSON. The production marks Linda’s first theatrical undertaking above 14th Street, with a six-week run at the Laurie Beechman Theatre (on 42nd Street), starting June 10th. All performances are on Fridays at 10pm.
Set during Medieval times, the play cheerfully shuns historical accuracy as the curtain rises on the Castle Club, the top “night spot for fops” in all the land. When the drag royalty is replaced by peasant go-go dancers, surviving queen Melinda (played by Simpson) must come up with a scheme to sabotage the dancers. Forsooth! Magic fabric to the rescue!
