AT LAST! Greetings from downtown New York City to our beloved Gypsies, and all who have joined our newsletter since last year's NOTS. This year is a special one for us, as Night of 1000 Stevies is on the EDGE OF SEVENTEEN! Such an auspicious number demanded a gigantic celebration and show this year, and a Main Room even larger than our previous venues. It took a while, but we have finally found a new venue for the show - the HIRO BALLROOM at THE MARITIME HOTEL, and booked a date. This year's show NOTS 17: EDGE OF SEVENTEEN will be held on Friday, May 11, and tickets will go on sale by March 11. We appreciate your patience during our long search, and are happy to finally have news.

Check out our new venue here

Our next mail will have lots more details, including confirmed performers, more about the theme, and hotel information. We wanted to simply get the date out today so you can begin to make plans, and will be back in touch well before the box office opens on March 11. News will also be available on the ENCHANTED GYPSIES forum on THE MOTHERBOARDS NYC.

A NOTE TO PERFORMERS:

All performers who have played at NOTS in the past will receive a separate email in the next few days with special instructions for this year's show. If your email has changed, let us know!

If you are a new performer who would like to apply to perform this year and you've already contacted us, you will also receive email in the next few days with details. If you are a new performer who hasn't written to us yet, do so now at events@jackiefactory.com.

Tickets $25 (plus Box Office charges)
Box Office opens March 11 - we'll email you as soon as it does

Night of a Thousand Stevies is probably the best-known Stevie Nicks fan event in the world, a riot of shawls, lace, baby's breath, twirling, tambourines and great performance. This event began at JACKIE 60 seventeen years ago with four performers, and has grown into a true spectacle, featuring countless interpretations over a marathon night. As always, this Enchanted evening will climax in a twirl of shawls and tambourines with the Battle of a Thousand Stevies near morning.

As we prepare for a truly magical night, we are humbled by the very special joy and tremendous support that you bring to NOTS every year. Special greetings to all of our friends from the Stevie websites and other online outposts for the Gypsies That Remain. Forward and post freely, and we look forward to twirling with you, like a White Winged Dove, on May 11.

On the Edge of Seventeen -

Chi Chi Valenti, Hattie Hathaway and Johnny Dynell

Hi! Last year was my first time going, and I had so much fun! I'm just wondering... is it still going to be the same sort of set up as last year? Like... having a dancing area and a seperate performance area? I really liked having the option to move around. Plus where else am I gonna get an all Fleetwood/Stevie dancefloor?

Thanks. I'm really excited for this year!!!
Hi Vanchoc-

Welcome to the Motherboards, and we are excited to be starting production on this year's show.

We chose the Hiro Ballroom because it can hold many more people in one big room than any of our previous venues, with great visibility of the stage from everywhere. There are several seating areas/lounges to take a break, but everything is on one floor. The all-Stevie/Fleetwood dancefloor will take place before, between and after the show sets - which will be slightly shorter this year.

We participated in a large show there last Fall for Animal Rescue which featured the Beastie Boys and several other big acts, so we got to see it on a marathon night. It should accomodate NOTS beautifully!

We'll see you on May 11 for a twirl..
It's REALLY going to be different this year.
We are taking her up a notch or two.
"17" is a big Stevie number (obviously) and we want to shake things up a bit.
It's still going to be "All Stevie, All Night Madness" but on a much bigger scale.
Just like Stevie, we are not afraid to reach for those high notes.
I LIKE that it will be all in one room this year! Other years, people missed performers (including myself) because there was so much going on and so many rooms to explore...Liked the knitting factory-but too many stairs (in platform boots- such a drag...pun intended). I am very excited just looking at the venue picture. Looks so classy! What does the dressing area look like...we'll talk about that later I guess Wink
Much Love-Amber
It's been hard for us.
On one hand, we knew that Don Hill's and The Knitting Factory were really too small for NOTS (as was Mother really) but at the same time we didn't want her to lose that special feeling by getting too big.
One year we almost moved her to Irving Plaza but changed our minds in the Nick (...pun also intended) of time.
We have been stumped every year on where to have it. (Madison Square Garden?)
I think The Hiro Ballroom will be a good new step. It will be bigger but hopefully will retain the magic.
I know a lot of people will say, "I liked it better when two thousand people were crammed into a room that holds two hundred".
That used to scare the hell out of ME!
Yes- a packed house like last year was a bit overwhelming. I like a little room to breath and dance. I miss the old days when this event was small but @ the same time embrace its popularity. Glad that you all work so hard in finding places for us semi-crazy Stevie fans to go and have fun. Everyone will have an opinion on any venue, I just look forward to going every year and could care less where in the city it is. Good memories made in every club! ~Amber
Hi everyone. I'm Joel. I was the DJ in the lounge last year. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. The dancefloor was packed by the time I got done.

I am disappointed that I won't be spinning this year, but am very much looking forward to NOTS 17 regardless.

I'm coming from Harrisburg Pa. We're staying at the Hotel Chelsea on 23rd in the Village. Looks like a pretty cool spot, with alot of history.

Hi Joel-

Your great support of the event in so many ways over the years is much appreciated! And you have picked one of the BEST and most unique hotels in New York IMHO - I used to live there in the Mudd Club era. And you can walk to the show..unless you're in platforms.

And yes, we are all missing that second DJ setup this year..but who knows? we may find a place for it in future years.

Looking forward to seeing you again on May 11..
Hey everyone. Im super excited for this years show. Last year's event was so outrageous, I cant even imagine how incredible it will be at this new larger venue.

Ive been asked to post one of the pictures we took at NOTS16. Some folks came up to my "Lindsey" and I, and said "Be Lindsey and Stevie for a picture!" So naturally, we started to fight Smile I made a sort of onstage/backstage collage.

Here is a link to one of our photo sets.

I cant wait to see everyone again this year!!
I too will miss the 2nd room and the lounge, especially DJ Joel who was AWESOME last year. BUT, and that's a big but, I'm glad we're moving from KF cuz it was really too small.

Am CRUSHED to hear you considered Irving and chose not to (because I work there). My biased opinion is that it would be a gorgeous venue for NOTS in the future. Still, Hiro looks fab and am looking forward to my favorite night of the year.
Hi All,

I am just so excited about Hiro. At first I was like "sell out!" but then I thought about how cramped the Knitting Factory had become and I'm really gagging for the new location. I think the beauty of the place will add a great deal to the atmosphere of the evening.

Over the years I have brought friends who are gay, straight, male, female, Stevie fans and people who didn't event know who Stevie was (yes they do exist!) - and every single one of them has always had the best time of their lives EVER in NYC - and they always come back!

I'm giving my tambourine a makeover and counting the days! Smile

Hi AnthoNYC

Thanks for posting this - it gives us energy and inspiration to live up to those amazing expectations. That kind of mix is what we LIVE for!

As for Hiro, it is really about the comfort of the guests and performers, first and foremost.
Knitting Factory was a great home for the show but we had outgrown it. And with a show this long-running and anticipated, you can not just keep repeating what worked in the past.

That said, thanks for your lovely post, and we look forward to twirling with you May 11.
I couldn't be happier that we are performing at Hiro. Does that mean that NOTS has "sold out"? You're damned right! Every single year, kids! I remember how cramped that Don Hill's was. I also remember watching The Knitting Factory grow cramped over the past few years as well. And while I am all for a full house, I have swallowed enough baby's breath to choke a horse while being slapped in the head by a sea of twirling shawls. I applaude Chi-Chi and the NOTS producers for once again bringing this event up a notch in fabulosity. Truth be told, I'd be happy to experience this evening in a cat box, if it came to that. But I couldn't be more excited about this year's digs and line-up.

Thanks to each of you for being a part of something so special to me.

ME TOO!!!!!

This year will without a doubt be different.
I know a lot of people will look back with nostalgia on the over crowded days of choking on baby's breath and tambourines but this really is a step up.
Okay, so I am finishing up a little NOTS shopping while looking for the right boots. I have a large hoof, so it is never easy. I always end up having to wear stripper boots to achieve anything close to Stevie's platform heel. Then...lo and behold: There it is! The perfect boot. (Well, almost.) As my luck would have it, nobody carries it in my size. And a drag queen (like a hooker or a magician) never reveals her tricks.

Having said that, I'm gonna let all you "less ample" b*itches" in on the secret: Look up a boot classified as "Akademiks Women's Northeastern". It's almost perfection and I know that while many of us are striving for "Stevie realness", it can often be difficult to find what was more en vogue a "few" years back.

I know this is one of the gayest posts ever, but it seemed worth mentioning to me.

Love ya', mean it.

Your Favorite Demi-Blonde,

The Divine Grace

Oh, fond memories of my early boot days at NOTS - running up and down stairs at MOTHER in platforms like this - or worse - stiletto granny boots. Ouch!

I promise you all much less foot damage due to the fab new layout - dressing room just one small flight of stairs directly under stage. And thanks for sharing all these great boot tips..
Very funny, here it is.

Stevie to Linds: Actually, DO Stop

Stevie Fleetwood Mac fox and original California bad girl Stevie Nicks has slammed rumors of Lindsay Lohan playing her in a biopic about the singer's life. In an interview in this month's Blender magazine, the Gold Dust Woman addresses a question about La Lohan's aspirations: "Lindsay Lohan thinks she is going to play me! But what the hell movie does she think she's talking about? There is no book, there is no screenplay, there is no movie. There is never going to be a movie made without me, because it's never going to be the story of me....So good luck, Lindsay."

The tartlet has never been shy about her Nicks obsession, covering "Edge of Seventeen" on her A Little More Personal album.

Tough break, Linds. Might we suggest Night of a Thousand Stevies ?
