The Duran Duran reunion project is still on. An album, produced by Nile Rodgers, is expected before the end of the year.

Nick Rhodes, meanwhile, has been collaborating with original Duran singer Stephen Duffy. They've been re-recording some early Duran Duran demos they made together.

Nick has approached Felix Da Housecat and his synthcore production mentor Tommie Sunshine to remix the singles.
----------

Synth pioneers Soft Cell and Human League have also approached Felix and Tommie to mix their comeback tracks

Boy George and S'Xpress's Mark Moore are collaborating
on a cover of M's Pop Muzik.
It's funny, when I started this topic almost a year ago, I didn't even know that there was already a marketing term for these up-and-coming electronic based groups...(Electroclash) Now a lot of magazines are already calling it "Dead."

Well it may be old news in NYC, but it's catching on BIG in LA and London, and Chicago is starting to have bi-monthlies...

And no one is doing nights at all in the smaller towns in the Midwest...So I'd guess it will hit before the end of the year here. (We're already coaxing some DJs.) It will then take another 2 years before we all get sick of it. Smile

I've been posting news on our Live Journal, but I'll do a better job of posting here....

Without further a do:

Wow, running around naked at raves in Goa when he was 8 while his dad DJed! So that's what happens to those kids. I always wondered.

Actually, I remember my son (Sammy Jo) running around naked at Jackie 60 while I was DJing. I guess that's why he's so good today.

A few weeks ago I attended a budding "all things electro endeavor" hosted by a friend in Manhattan, who admitted that night: he could use some help with building a "new" crowd for such a party. And, I thought, as I listened and looked about, of Larry Tee, who has done so well with his own brand of ElectroClash (at Luxx, and, beyond ...).

So, I wrote Larry an email of introduction regarding my friend the promoter, [outlining what he was attempting to put together, peppered with a few good words re: his character, etc.] ... and, wouldn't you know it: although yearS have passed since Larry and I have shared more than a few, rushed greetings on subway platforms, he wrote back instantly ... "Sure, Tonya. Give him my email if he needs some suggestions ..."

Such a big smile crept on my face ... Larry's immediate "enthusiasm apparent" for nightlife is still as incredibly refreshing as the first night I met him, now, twelve years ago. The whole exchange - simply positive - a reinforcement for me – I do believe my dearest Z. and S. - there may indeed be more grand individuals progressing "into this new retro" than it seems. And the more I hear, the more I wish to go out dancing again ...

Oh, Larry Tee did mention [now that the Luxx party is on hiatus] he is touring and working with his girl group W.I.T. [as I'm sure you're quite on top of] and included a list of PR mention-ables that I am including with my post because I am wishing him all the luck in the world.

Aside: Thanks for Alice. Do keep them coming!!!! Heard a new track I'm rather bemused with but not quite as astonishing: Let's Push Thing's Forward, by The Streets, Original Pirate ... (2002)

quote:
Larry Tee on Billboard Charts: t.A.T.u. remix at no. 1, Club Play; Bucci Bag remix at no. 1, Hot Dance Breakout;
Horndog - Overseer, LT remix at no. 5, Hot Dance Breakout; LizzieMcGuire Soundtrack at no. 13 on Top 200, platinum sales

Releases: Larry Tee Double Mix CD, available everywhere (Moonshine Records); W.I.T. album - Nation-wide release in June, 2003 (Mogul Electro); Badd Inc. Compilation - available nation-wide (Mogul Electro); Electroclash® vol. 2 - September 2003 (Mogul Electro); T.A.T.U. "not gonna get us" - w/ LT remix - available worldwide (Interscope)
"Bucci Bag" single - w/ LT remix - available this summer (*69); "Hold Me, Touch Me" single by W.I.T. - on Ultra 80's vs. Electro (Ultra Records); "Confusion" w/ Larry Tee remix - available everywhere (Whacked Records)

We just recently (within the last year) met Larry Tee. We have been very impressed with his enthusiasm and level of positive energy. He's had his hand in a lot of the great dance music being put out now...

WERK! Superproducer! Werk it girl, on. the. dancefloor.
