Okay, technically this isn't in 'town' as such, but we'll overlook that for our purposes... the best local radio station is in New Jersey. In fact, outside of a classical station I like once in a while, NYC has total bullshit for radio. I don't understand it. Nobody understands this. It simply doesn't make sense. Regardless, the station is 91.1 WFMU, broadcasting from Jersey City. a lot of folks on the east side and into Brooklyn and Queens can't receive it from the interferance of buildings...

I've been to several of those Russian clubs to do a quick number for a birthday, etc. Unfortunately I've never caught the shows. I'm dying to go but I always work weekends. It leaves from Maria's Bakery on Lafayette! I love that place. It's one of those Chinese bakeries with those insanely cheap pastries. I like the lunchy ones that come with tuna inside or a hot dog baked into it. My very favorite are the coconut cream buns that look like a big pussy. The last meeting was unfortunately at Ann's wake ... she died from a sudden respiratory problem.
