romy and pilar ·
Yes, we do think about leaving, although the idea of leaving absolutely is scary too. There is some lovely decay still left, but not much. Where are the pawn shops? I remember when dogs were allowed everywhere, for instance, which is important for Pilar, to be allowed. There was a great dog from East 7th Street, who used to be all over the place on his own. His name was Hank. Does anyone remember him? He was coolness itself. Where are the cities which have both grime and grace?

Widely publicized and with a NYMag article to come out Holly died last week. She had been my art dealer from 1974-1980. Everything the many NYTimes obits said about her and Grace Gluck's full biography is true. Top Ten Reasons to Love Arcadia! 1) Arcadia reminds me of Acadians, and Penny Arcade, and Atlantis, and other A-words.. 2) Zazoo, Satori, Jo-Jo Baby and Gigi Deluxe are coming to town for a whole week! 3) I am getting my darling husband into a costume, finally - and its NOT his J.C. Vampire cape... We are performing together as The Emperor and The Empress - TOO much fun! 4) A whole new generation is discovering the work of the late great Art L'Hommedieu, whose Blacklips tarot images grace...

Helen Mirren would make a great Endora. Or Angelica Houston with a little make-up. I do hope Serena makes an appearance in the script someplace. A trip to the Witches council would be wonderful!! I personally would love to see the guy who won the Oscar last year be Darren(cannot remember his name) Tall, thin, huge nose, smooched Halle Berry really good? Even Eric McCormack from will and Grace would be an interesting choice. I have even ponderd Crispin Glover as a wonderfully odd Darren.

Shady, huh, Daddy? She's getting insecure...it is SO obvious. I wish the bitch would just roll around in her money and save the spotlight and time for real talent. I mean Kaballah, gap add, childrens books? So SOOO SO sick of her. And I think her work stinks, lately. She should get a clue from real heroes like Marlene or Josephine. It amazes me that a person with her money and power doesnt want to make a bigger influence on the positive manifestations in the world, like human rights and...

Thank you Chi Chi and Bobby, it was my pleasure to share that. That's so true Anna. This show was so much better than those big productions of the past. It was just Bowie and his band pulling it all off song by song. Between songs he was so funny and present with everyone. He reminded me of a Rock 'n Roll Richard Dawson in his humorous manner with everyone. And yes, he does look HOT!!!! He still has such sexy moves too, such grace and style.

Re: The Palladium

Against all odds - Palladium was undeniably fun. No one believed it could be hip - it was just too big, but somehow it all pulled together. I saw some great shows there: Gwen Guthrie, Kid Creole & The Coconuts, El Grand Combo, Grace Jones, Debbie Harry, Joyce Sims, even Vanity 6! Sister Dimemsia DJ-ing in the Michael Todd Room. I used to wonder just how much extra insurance the club had to carry to have banks of televisions on hydraulic lifts spinning over the dancer's heads. The art...

I must also agree with the consensus here as I also was not a CNN viewer prior to Katrina, nor a fan, but became an instant fan of Anderson Cooper for his authenticity, courage, fire and grace. He was right on it, and I believe helped to wake up all the other newscasters and reporters across the media board as to what realness really is.

Nah. Hated it. And it wasn't even Grace. Of course, I would be the first to admit that I do have very peculiar taste in music... but I don't even think I owned any kind of radio (let alone one...

Maybe it's good to stand back and look at the bigger picture. On one hand: There is Matthew Shepherd, murdered because he was gay. Same as it ever was. On the other hand: There are shows like "Will & Grace" and "Queer Eye" that are main stream Top 10 American TV. Never thought I'd see that! Reggae (the deep dub stuff) was VERY influential back then. It was the first thing that brought the worlds of "Disco/Club" and "Punk/Rock" together. For example... I came out of the whole Downtown, CBGB, Punk, No Wave, Art Rock thing. But I used to go to Discos like The Paradise Garage etc. and these were always two totally different worlds. UNTIL Dub Reggae. I was DJing at Danceteria by then and for the first time the 2 worlds came together musically. The sound was deep, dark, druggy &...

Its the White Rabbit song though that will probably live on for another thousand years. It became like an official anthem of the 'San Francisco Sound' of the late 1960's early '70's. A famous tell all book of the times was called 'Go Ask Alice' - the supposedly true story of a young girl's decent into rabid drug use and eventual death with all the stock depradations on the way down. The flick was done with such an ambivalent tone though that it never rose to the status of being...
