Re: 9/11/01 - The village signpost - please check in here

May all of our loved ones be alright. The news here in Australia is scary. There is talk of America going to war. Of thousands dead. I wish I could send blood from Australia. I have been up watching this since it began for me here at 11:30pm here/about. It's 7:30 am now. Desperate to reach loved ones in NYC. If you will, pray with me? Dear Goddess Dear God Dear any Deity who is listening; Protect those injured and awating help, may they or as many as is possible be found safe; Shine on those...

Hi again Kylie The first message on my machine today after my mother (who of course reprimanded me for sleeping through the day) was Lee Chapel asking if me and his friend, my Isreali roommate,Tom, were OK. I immediately thought somebody was rounding up all the gay and tranny Jews, until I got awake and rationale enough to turn on the TV. So far no one I know of personally or love, has been harmed! Rose

All is well with the costumes. Kathy Lee is here supervising the workers. I am really going a little nuts with the buying. It's like when I used to go thrift shopping at Dompseys in Brooklyn. I would get so excited at how cheap all this great stuff was that in the end I would buy too much and really overspend. Well, every time I spend too much on clothes I go eat a cheap dinner at a street vendor to repent for my sins. You wanna know something cute? It's standard here to sit in the front...

Lemme start over as it were.. I am a man. I have lived as a "woman". I have been on hormones and have had breasts. I always had a dick ( my own I mean) I have had moments when I felt like a "woman" but I knew I was not. People have a right to believe anything they like about themselves as far as I'm concerned and anyone who doesn't like it can kiss the proverbial ass ( Jim Fouratt). However I think that many people are confused about their gender even if they are born with one particular set...

I remember slurping on backwash it was after last call My dress was a couture pattern of stains from a variety of spilled alcohols.. I clinched me cellphone but hadn't received a single number to call. Then I woke up on the sidewalk, missing one of my brand new 8th street heels Searched for it in my thriftstore purse as I stepped in, what felt like "oatmeal?" THAT was just the beginning of the "Kinky Pakistani Cabdriver Ordeal". The night time city street was swirly as hundreds of "off-duty"...

History Wrestles Commerce in Meatpacking District By DENNY LEE (NYT, 8/11/02) The three-year drive to confer landmark status on the meatpacking district is taking on a new urgency. What began as a low-key investigation of warehouses and blood-soaked Belgian blocks has quickened this summer into a race that pits preservationists against developers. "We're hitting a critical juncture," said Andrew Berman, executive director of the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation. "Several...

Hatches -- It was impressive to meet you, such a stately figure of consequence with a wise, yet subdued kindness. I hope you like the Jackie 60 Fashion Forward shwag, I apologize for the interruption in your stage performance last night (that was not my doing, ahem, Daddy - I much prefer being on the dance floor!) ------------- As I continue to delve into NYC in the 80s, I find more and more information about DWs work and the artists he collaborated with. Yeah, I think it was Lee Chapel. He was doing a Susanne Bartsch Copa type thing but it eventually evolved into something of it's own. Really fun. Miss Understood was a big part of it as I remember.

Re: Party Monster - Michael Alig

Miss Understood ·
Bridgette, I can totally understand why you'd be interested in the 80's/90's NY club scene. There was a lot of excitement, color, and creativity. What I find unfortunate is how much credit for this is being given to Michael Alig. The whole "Club Kid" thing was really an extension of what was first being done in small East Village Venues such as the Pyramid. Flloyd, Sister Dimension, Lahoma, Olympia, and many other freaks were doing their thing way before Disco 2000. When the small venues...

Back in the day (1991-ish) for a while I frequented the Palladium on Tuesday nights for the Love Machine. It was really fun. Lahoma Van Zandt was the hostess and she used to fall down all the time. She was anorexic-thin and sometimes she smelled kinda funky. I also think Lee Chappell was involved somehow also, I don't remember who the DJ was but it was someone famous I think. Girlina was one of the drag regulars and there was some queen who would show up in Queen Elizabeth the First drag.
